Kershaw Link. WOW!

Danggit, I'm about to lose more money....

Alright, so is the Aluminum or the FRN preferred, and why? Also, aftermarket deep-carry clips?

If you want to take out the torsion bar then you want the aluminum model. The FRN dosnt have a detent hole on the blade.
I have both versions but I prefer the traction on the FRN so I dropped the aluminum's blade in and now I have the best of both worlds (IMO).

Nice revision

And thank you for that VERY important bit of info! No detent on the FRN version but there is one on the Alum?? I too prefer the traction and warmth afforded by FRN but am not a fan of torsion-bars... Hmm, looks like the Alum handle is also a LOT thinner - 0.49 vs 0.6" I may have to go aluminum then, and I guess I'll need a ZT clip :) Again, thanks for the info!

You bet.
I love this knife. If I had buckets of money I'd buy up a couple dozen of these. Not just to have extras on hand for gifts and backups but to show Kershaw how much I appreciate a very affordable, great quality USA made knife.

Huh weird, my frn blade has a detent hole.

Also, some clips are painted and some are parkerized

Ok - now you rascals have made me curious, I'll be going home tonight and taking apart my Links.... ;^)

And I say rascals in the most loving way....

best

Dangnabit. I got jipped then!
I thought it was really odd that the lockbar had a detent ball but the blade had no detent hole...
Figures.

Its a $40 knife and I owned it. Then quickly returned it. Very well built but I disliked how slippery it was in hand. One handed closing was odd and i found the assisted opening rather slow. The ZT0770 is the CF version IMO but, has a few small changes that make it worth the price change. Light weight and jimpping where this knife lacks it.
A deep carry clip would also have been great. All that for $40 its hard to beat for a solid knife thats USA made. But it slipped out of my hand and almost took out my flexor digitorum superficials.

I have a kershaw thistle and it works great. I was hesitant about buying a kershaw but they seem to be very good knives. I may just stick with kershaw because you get a great knife for a low price.

I went to take mine apart yesterday, but the pivot screw was very tight. I figured that was a good thing so I left it. If its so tight that its hard to take out, I figure it won't back out on me.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. :D

I took the torsion bar out of my aluminum one and the detent is too weak to hold the blade in and it doesn't flip correctly.

Dang.
Well, I guess like a lot of knives you can get detent strength all across the board. Mine's solid and snappy.

Slip in a folded piece of paper, ala Bluntruth4u and his mini dejavoo (different knife but same principle, increase the spring-tension on the detent) - skip to ~8:51 if it doesn't do it for you.

I appreciate it. I'll give a shot.

So does anyone know why some have the US flag and some don't on the AL handles?

I believe the earlier ones did not have the flag, and they added it on sometime later. None of the ones I've gotten have the flag.

Just got my second Link in from Dave today, a aluminum black wash blem. As usual, it arrived a day early. And as usual, I cannot find the blem. Great blade with great fit and finish. It has the flag but I took it apart and it has no detent. So I put the torsion bar back in and it will stay that way. I don't mind the speed safe but was curious because everyone has had different experiences.
