I can't answer that question. You'd have to ask Matt Conable whether he heat treats his own ZDP or Hitachi does it for him.

I thought from the William Henry video all the blades were ground in Japan. I don't think WH actually does anything besides final assembly and Matt sharpens them. Everything else is farmed out to the best of the best.

I read through my email from Kershaw this morning again and I don't see a quantity for the limited edition for the knives. Not so limited?

Kershaw NEVER posts the quantity made anymore..... But you can BET it will be limited editon, thats the only knives that are sold on their site only now.

It's been awhile since I've seen the video, but that sounds reasonable to me. Still, unless I'm mistaken, William Henry knives claim to be made here. So I believe that would technically qualify them as ZDP knives made in the U.S.A.

Sure... I guess KAI just has access to unlimited amounts of zdp189...

It's not like they are on record saying they had very little left and were saving it for a special occasion.

I think this will wind up being one on the rarest LEs when it comes down to it.

I'm looking forward to adding a Ruby to my collection.

I prefer less embellished designs for carry, but a commemorative design is just that - Commemorative.

I dig what Kershaw is doing during it's 40th year, and can't wait to flip it. And then back to the safe....

That's pretty much my sentiment.

I find it interesting that a Kershaw is playing in ZT territory, albeit LE, but nonetheless it's there.

Before ZT and a few years thereafter Kershaw was releasing some killer Limited Editions like Tilt, Speedform 3500, Volt 3600, etc.

No need to get upset over a question on how many .

I'm certainly a looooong way from being upset!! :)

But I am still waiting for an answer to my question, which was directed at you.

Its a serious question. What difference does it make if they make 100 or 1000?

So this doesn't go on sale until November 13? Someone snuck one out and has put it up for sale... (I'm not deal-spotting, just pointing out one is in the wild)

Man I wish just one time, KAI/ZT would make a knife that suits everyone's tastes. What the hell is wrong with them???

How hard can it be to make a knife that EVERYONE loves??

I mean really.............

What were they thinking?

best
