Kershaw Ruby

Won't happen on these. Wicked thin grind.

I wasnt really being serious. I just have really really bad luck is all. Kai makes some very very nice products. But it seems like every time I order a limited edition I always get the 1 knife that has an issue.

Sounds like me and Spyderco.

Are they still saying total production was 200, or were these 95 an extra batch?

Seems like Kershaw needs to make this work much better before the next release. I don't see why they can't have all our user data preloaded, including credit card data. If they don't want the responsibility, do it with a big E-tailer like Amazon.

I bet that most people think they were sold out, and did not know they were re-released on the website.

There has got to be more than 200 people in the USA and Canada that want to get their hands on one of these.

How many of these were they going to make initially?

I bought an Acies 2 last year. I heard it was made by Kershaw. I don't know if that is correct or not. I do know that the Acies is one of the best engineered folders I have, at any price. If Kershaw made it, then I know that they can do excellent work. I hope the Ruby is as good.

I'm just glad I am getting one. I'm guessing the graphics aren't as bold in real life as they are in the pictures. Black blades tend to be less vibrant in person.

8 left......

A little OT here. The blade is ZDP-189. Is the blade made and HT here or Japan? I didn't think that ZDP was tooled outside Japan.

They Never said that production total was 200. You have your facts wrong.......

They don't release total production numbers. If you don't know Kershaw and ZT make great knives, you are living under a rock!!!

KAI is Japanese and because of that they are able to export ZDP-189 into the states to machine and HT here.

Right, BUT, that has nothing to do with the foundry exporting raw steel.

I would guess the blade is prefab in Japan, IE shaped and HT then install in the US.

Holy crap! I thought I missed out on this one. Glad I decided to check the latest in this thread! Only 7 left when I checked out. That was close.

Thomas has said many times that they do all the work in the USA on the ZDP-189. Search the old Kershaw forum for the ZDP-189 Mini Cyclone. They do a great job with it too.

As far as the 200 did anyone bother to read what it said on the Rubys page?

Last time we put the Ruby on sale, we had some epic server fails. We deeply apologize for the frustration and are working to fix it.

What that meant, however, was that not everyone who put a Ruby in their shopping cart completed the purchase.

The good news is that this also means there are Rubys available.
Right now, as a matter of fact.

So if you want a Ruby, now’s the time. Put one in your cart and proceed to checkout.

But please be aware that the server issue isn’t yet resolved. You may still experience problems. Have patience and carry on. We promise we will get this thing figured out.
