I've handled dozens of different khukuris, and I've used several different types for trail building. The shape of this one is a distillation of what I've experienced over the years I've used traditionally manufactured khuks. It's less a tool, than a weapon, this Khukurang design.
Although most of the khuks that come from their birthplace in Nepal are made from leaf springs, by barefoot guys in tin huts, making a khukuri poses a serious challenge to those not immersed in that culture. So many curves, tapering, fullers, inlays etc. I'd love to go to Nepal one day and spend some time in one of their gritty khukuri shops, and make my own using their traditional methods.
Here's a little vid I found that you might find interesting.
