Kind of bummed after I got home from Knob

Another question: How are you "paying you dues" if you have a "PROXY?"

I get it. If a person is too lazy to put in the work themselves, or "dues" they get someone else to do the work for them.

Its perfectly clear to me now.

Ok... Correct me if I'm wrong... But when you noticed what you thought was a PT-5 on the wall, did you NOT try to scramble here on the Forums, to find a PROXY to grab you that knife??? I believe that was you, was it not?

Can someone get the PT 5 for me? Thanks.

No, that was you!!! Now, would you like to revise your position here? :D

No you are able to get a proxy because you paid your dues and people know they can trust you to make good on the purchase. You have to REALLY trust someone to put hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars out of pocket on the word that they will make it good.

And are you not the one who has a proxy buy up all they can because you're too lazy or busy to get the knives yourself?

All they can?? No. Trust me, I could have always gotten more than I took. But... I will neither deny, nor apologize for finding a proxy for any show including this one... Nor state how lazy it is to do so after trying to find one, which is what you just did.

This is the point of this entire thread. So basically you only took the ones you wanted, (or I should say, what you told your proxy to get) and left the scraps for everybody else?

Just so we are perfectly clear here. I don't have a dog in this race, I could care less. However, I can very much relate to the other people posting here about their frustrations, more so then I can with people like yourself.

It sure seems like you care an awful lot with the number and tone of your posts. And there were a lot more than just "scraps" left at the show.

You and everyone in this thread needs to calm down a lot. I can understand if someone went to the show for a particular knife and it was gone when they arrived, but I have never been disappointed with what I walked away from any show with. It may not have been my "grail" knife, but so what, I had a good time and I'm sure not going to trample or anger others because of how I act at the trough.

And complaining on an internet forum is not going to make it easier for you to get somone to proxy for you, or encourage the shop to post pics of the knives in the future. And lastly if there are any deals to be had I don't see them going to someone that raises a huge stink about missing said deals.

All of these comments are not necessarily aimed at you Aaron but you do need to calm down and think before you post some of your posts.

Rant Off

Its best I do walk away now, before I get infracted to death. Anyone want to proxy for me? LMAO.:D

I thought the thread was about presales and paying dues? If Jaxx has a proxy, and that proxy buys EVERY knife on the table when the show opens, who cares?
You do have to pay dues to get a proxy. That only makes sense, people aren't just going to trust you and what not with a thousand bucks of your own money.
The paying dues piece that this started with was somehow associated with getting stuff early before the show. If that was the case then you'd think people like Randucci or what not would be able to get his pick of the litter at Blade :D

Let me see if I can shed some light here. Yes the trough is a treacherous place. Yes there were a number of knives that were ordered prior to the show that were simply delivered at the show to save the buyer a shipping charge. Yes there were a few knives on the wall that didn't get finished. My fault, I had been going on NO sleep for the last 3 days prior to leaving and I was not in a safe physical condition to finish the war boars on the wall. Other than that, everything in the picture went to Knob Creek and a large number more that were not in the picture. As far as the AK47s, they were on the table when the show started friday morning. They were on the back side next to the swamp rat stuff. If the person who bought them wants to come out and say who he is that is his choice but they were purchased by the first person to the table, first thing friday morning.

So I apologize if someone was there specifically for a war boar. Other than that everything in the picture was at Knob Creek. I have always tried to bring special stuff to Knob Creek and give people willing to come to the show a chance at something that they may not be able to find anywhere else.

I really love having knives at Knob Creek. It is really the highlight of the year for me. I always look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and having a chance to do what I love. TALKING KNIVES with fellow knife guys.

I will continue to do the Knob Creek shows twice a year and really hope that all of you at some point can make it to a show so I can have the pleasure of meeting each and everyone of you face to face.

Hi Garth, thanks for the clarification. I spoke with the person when he came back later, and he told me that he'd bought them, but didn't say when or where and I didn't think to ask. I'll accept that I missed them (I was looking on the other side of the booth until I shifted my focus to Scrap Yard). He sure must have grabbed and scooted quickly though -- I prefer to stick around for show-and-tell. It was great to talk with you and the rest of the crew, and I look forward to seeing you again at the next KC show.

I don't think anyone here is that naive, but if a manufacturer advertises that a product will be for sale at a specific time and place, and that product isn't there when people show up to buy it, that's a problem. Shouting "NO REGRETS" over and over again doesn't change that.

That said it's not 100% clear if this actually happened or not, I'll certainly give the Busse crew the benefit of the doubt until someone posts proof one way or another. I don't think anyone would complain if the Busse crew spelled out exactly what would be for sale at any given show however.

To me, the first paragraph above is what this thread is all about. When Jerry posted the picture of the knives for Knob Creek, it was an advertisement for what Busse was going to offer at the show. There were no disclaimers like "not every knife shown on the wall will make it" or "some knives shown are customer deliveries", or "some might be sold on Thursday night", so the people that had decided to attend the show had an expectation that they might have a chance to get a perticular knife. I'm sure they could accept that someone might beat them to the special knife they were looking for, but didn't expect to find out that it wasn't there to be had at all. Its not about someone whining that they were beat out for a perticular knife, or any secret "HOG Club", or having a PROXY, or "paying your dues" or "who you know", or "there were plenty of other knives there". This thread is about the advertised expectation that there were going to be certain knives there.

As far as knives go (I do go to Blade to see the good people and have fun), I pay the expenses of attending Blade (East and West) to find the "unique or limited" knives (Busse or otherwise), not for the regular knives I can buy off the internet. I have an expectation that when I attend the show, the "unique or special limited" knives will be there. Now, maybe I don't get picked in one of the drawings or I get beat to a table and the knives are gone, but there was at least a chance to get them.

Maybe Jerry won't post pictures anymore or maybe he will post pictures of only the knives that will be there for sure and leave out the "possibles".

:D

P.S. I started to write this post before Garth posted his.

I love threads where there is lots of bad tempered whiny post.

It is a great no cost reminder of what it was like to be married; and helps me through times of weakness when I might otherwise consider buying a woman a ring.

I save soooo much money here.

Well there you go, no super-secret inner-circle pre-show sales after all. Clearly there was some confusion and skewed expectations with respect to what was shown in the preview photos versus available for sale - but I'm satisfied and happy to know the real story.

To me, the first paragraph above is what this thread is all about...
I'm just going to snip this part out :D
The initial post essentially said that no matter how early you get there, the good stuff is gone and sold to hogs on the inner circle.

More or less.

This actually caused a lot of rumblings. Rightfully so assuming the guy really was first. But...he wasn't.

Garth said:
Ain't true.

So, this thread is pointless.

:D

+1, If it's not 100% certain to be on the table for opening morning then don't have it in the pic. At least tell the one's that are pre sold. If there not finished and not 100% sure it's going don't use in the pics.

It's that simple, thats the only storey here. It got sidetracked, but the pics is the only storey that matters.

I'm sure it won't happen again, so lets all move on please. Everyone makes a mistake now and then.

BTW- I wasn't even there, so I sure ain't whinning...but would like to see only the knives that are 100% going to be put on the table the next time, to avoid this. So please don't quit selling to me just because of this post:p

Hey all,

Im a little collector..I love the customs and have learned that to get the nice ones you have to get to a big show.
I come to knobCreek for two things..take my boy to bust some caps and to possibly score a couple knives.Nice ones. I save for months .always looking for the "one".

the hard Lesson i just learned while I just signed on is...Im not on the inside. That no matter how early you get to the table...( I was first...within a few seconds) that it is already picked over...By Inside stealth hogs, or other vendors at the show or who knows how...but some of that stuff just wasnt there to choose from..were there great knives to pick from...definately. I got a nice one. It would have been cool to get a warboar or an AK or the Argone ...wasnt an option. Not on the table. The realization that to own one of those ..iam gonna have to pay someone else the mark up and shipping to have it , no matter how hard I planned and strive to hold up my end be early, be first, and bring money...you get whats left over. Ok guys.. lesson learned. Dont even ask about a piece of cheesecake. Trust me ,I do understand that what I scored is part of the family of some of the best knives in the world...onward and upward...Flame on. No regrets.

Having read Garth's reply the thing Motorhed66 needs to consider carefully here is whether his comment highlighted above is right.

If there are any doubts on this he ought to at least confirm as much and maybe a "sorry for perhaps wrongly assuming this" is in order. Causing a lot of unneccessary speculation about the integrity of the Busse staff is not a good thing and has led to a fair old "sh** storm" over what seems to have been a mistaken assumption.
