Kind of bummed after I got home from Knob

I was there at the opening of the show on Friday morning.

I had a great time talking with the HOGS that came early and also spending time with Garth, Drew, and the other patient Busse folks working the table.

I did manage to get a good addition to my FSH collection:

Picture063.jpg

It's sage with slightly thicker standard tan slabs and measures about 0.27".

It feels great in my hand. The handles feel a little softer than usual. They could even be tan linen micarta????

The knife instantly made my top five.

I also picked up a couple of Swamp Rat Ratmandu's.

And I'll always wish I had enough cash for one of the 1 of 13 NMFBM's. They were beautiful knives and showed so much work by the shop.

I started to add one but I've spent too much money lately.

Great Busse event and "no regrets" ever.

Garth and gang, keep "bringing it" to the Creek!!!!:thumbup:

Jaxx,

This is why I went in on buying those banks with you and PorkDucci. I need one of those 35-foot board room conference tables

.

 ...I'm on my way to help you lay 'em out!! :D:D
If you keep on keepin' on, you're gonna need more than one! :D

Well, I'm glad to hear that some folks had a great time, because reading this thread and ones like it fairly recently, you'd think that there is some great conspiracy to keep certain folks away from some Busse knives...

I never thought they were ALL against me before

I had thought it was just Ducci and Cobalt.
.

LOL... In the "Is it fair..." list, I orginally had:

Is it fair that TonyG gets to score so many sweet Busse's because he knows how to schmooze with the UberHOG's?

...And dammit, it isn't fair!! :grumpy: We need to conspire against you if we're to ever get a few, ourselves!! ;) :p :D:D

Just kiddin'! ;)

I knew it was coming. Mrs.Q ,I have met you before and shook your hand.I have read many of your posts, and wished you well.I shared a story that is not a popular one ,in the house of Busse.I expected some heat. I didnt get much.I think that speaks volumes about everyone here.No sob story, just what happend to me...How did you feel when they told you there is no santa clause.?..I still get cool stuff at Christmas. I could show up at the next one and you could hold one out and say to my face ,motorhed you cant have this one..its not for you..this is for the group of guys that helped make this company what it is today..we owe this one to so an so..that is whats left for you. we hope you like it ,its all really good stuff...but you havent done enough to get the oppertunity to decline this one. That is effectively what happend and to be honest..I wish it would have been put that way in the begining. I can be a little thick at times.Subtleties are not my strong suit. Ill see whoever is there next year.Ill get something new and it will be a good time.

also I was really kidding about the cheesecake..I love it , but I didnt expect to get any for real..I thought it was cool thing for somebody to do...and the only reason I mentioned it at the show was to tip my hand a little that I am here, I still pay attention to whats going on and that I wasnt just a guy with no hoglike aspiration. Be safe ,I am done. See you all next year. Peace.

So all it takes is a quickie "hand shake" and back door moment to "pay dues" for a pre-show knife?

All you have to do is slip the janitor $200 and the "back door moment" is enacted .... :):)

Quickie hand shake is afterwards ... Its important to get that in the right order .. otherwise ........... no infi for U !!!!!!!!!!:grumpy:

There's a simple way to begin to sort some of this out. Why doesn't someone just ask ronybear how he scored the custom Silent Knight? He got it at Knobb Creek, and as motorhed66 said he was first to the table and it wasn't there. So when did he score it?

This isn't rocket science, and it's not a democracy. Obviously Jerry does as Jerry pleases, and as some people around here have been buying big tickets for over a decade, it's safe to assume they have some seniority over others, isn't it?

Just ask ronybear how he gets knives before they hit the table and the mystery is solved.

Shame to the people (I mean HOGS) who fed at the trough while the rest of us were sleeping!!

It seems the feeding began the night before.

Its like being invited to a steak dinner only to find out when you get there the steak has sold out.....:thumbdn:

If you really want to get into it...

I'd love to go to Blade or Knob Creek to get something that I really want, in person, from Jerry, or Amy and the crew, but I don't have a big enough bank roll to buy my way in. You feel me?

Second, I'm not going to try and kill myself, running all over the country, spending money on travel, gas, hotels, to hopefully/maybe get a shot at a knife that may or may not be there, let alone once getting there to try and push and fight my way through crowds of people to buy a knife. Then trying to compete with someone who looks like they got a cut of the 700 billion dollar bailout money, who can just grab whatever they want off the table before you get a chance to really look at what might interest you. I'm money ahead buying from the exchange or ebay..regardless of price. So no cheesecake for me I guess.

All this is not a fault of Jerry or his Company. He has a great product, and I LOVE his blades and the knives that I have. I love hanging out at the small Indy show with Mike and Bob, they are great guys and I have fun. I'm just not interested in these games that end up being somewhat of a let down to the "small guys" who try to compete with the "BIG ONES." Thats all.

Well, why don't you ask him? He might tell you, and then again... He might not!

I'm not sure if I understand what your punctuation or emphasis is attempting to impart. I'm simply tossing out a suggestion that seems obvious from where I'm at, but that somehow in over 9 pages and 170 posts noone has thought to mention. I hope it hasn't come off as offensive; I thought I was stating the obvious, kinda like you just did.

I got no shame in my game, so I'll ask. So, ronybear: How did you get you happen to get what you got before it was on the table at Knob Creek '08 :) ?

Well, there is a difference between:

"Someone burn the witch!"
&
"I'll burn the witch!"

The first is like trying to incite the crowd to do your bidding, the second is not.

You didn't say "I'll ask....", you said "Just ask...", as in Someone other than you should just ask. Your keyboard isn't broken. If you want to know then ask him, yourself. That's all I was trying to say. He may decide to tell you, and he may not. That is his right.

I have to agree with Mr. Clean.

While northern1's post may appear to make some sense on the surface, people need to realize he's talking about work (his job).

Collecting knives is suppose to be fun, not a job. If collecting knives ever becomes too much work, who the hell wants to do that, turn something they love into something they don't?

i was talking about my work and about this topic at the same time.knife collecting is supposed to be fun, your right but it doesnt mean everything is going to be perfect or work out the way you want.

i'm sure a lot of people didnt get the exact knife they wanted but still had fun.

and when i said getting special deals i didnt mean on prices.

if they sold certain pieces to special people the night before, giving them first dibs and a huge advantage i would call that a deal.

speaking of my work, like we say there "if you got an issue grab a tissue"

pipe up guys,you'll all live.

sorry

Basically, life isn't always fair. There's always going to be someone who will beat you to something you want... But what you don't see is that many times you will beat others to what they want too.

I don't think anyone here is that naive, but if a manufacturer advertises that a product will be for sale at a specific time and place, and that product isn't there when people show up to buy it, that's a problem. Shouting "NO REGRETS" over and over again doesn't change that.

That said it's not 100% clear if this actually happened or not, I'll certainly give the Busse crew the benefit of the doubt until someone posts proof one way or another. I don't think anyone would complain if the Busse crew spelled out exactly what would be for sale at any given show however.

This is more entertaining than going to the movies. :D

A few thoughts...
  • Is there priority given to certain Hogs? On some level I bet there is.
  • Do I mind? No, they have helped build this community and have been great customers for Busse-kin. :) Without some of them, this community might look very different from the place that it is today.
  • Should priority knives have been on the wall when the picture was taken? No, that just makes people angry if they figure out that the race for Infi was not fair.

This thread only bums me out because it will lead to the Boss not posting any pictures and we'll only have hearsay as to what rarities were available. I loved seeing the wall of INFI and would be quite sad if pics like the Knob Creek Sneek Peeks went by the wayside. It'll be just like finding out exactly how many of any one knife was ever produced....A No Go.

Now had I gone for the Pumpkin AK and got there first, legitimately, and didn't at least see who scored it, I'd be bummed out too. But then again, Eric Isaacson got that super cool ZT BM with the custom fighting clip-point on Saturday, and I, personally, would have been equally stoked to have scored it first-off on Friday. YMMV
