The Argonne Assault was satin, the G-10 was blacker than the devil and bone whiter than the driven snow.

LMAO!!! I'm glad you guys have something to bitch about, at least you made it down!

The ONLY way you are getting anything is to be there bright and early on Friday! It's just one of those rules...part of the learning curve sort of;)

So, who had the minis this year? Quad 50s? Fat man and his sawed offs?
Don't make me break out the stupid video from 10 years ago to reminisce! I want some stories! Who swooped in and swept away THE one you were considering? Who's thinking that Lauer could do an awesome coating for a NMFBM? Who had Dog tags made for their wife...or wives?;)

You guys all suck!:D

BTW, is Drew getting a little paunchy?

LIFE ON THE INSIDE

People who try to write those kind of books & articles always seem to disappear... You get me? :grumpy:

;) :D:D:D

Glad ya had a blast there! One of these times I gotta make it down the the Creek. :)

... I was the guy that waited 25 minutes for them to write up and finish checking out all your scrap yards...
That did take a while :o. I thought I read that you came on Saturday in the thread. I didn't buy the SHBM until noon-ish, perhaps even later. Somebody told me that some folks had been able to buy things the night before at the hotel, but that's an unconfirmed rumor as far as I know.

As to the shooting, I really didn't go watch that this year and have only attended one shoot before (last Fall). From listening at the Busse booth, there was certainly some shooting going on, but not nearly as much as I remembered last year. There were VERY long breaks between firing blocks, and they didn't seem to go on as long as I remembered. Perhaps firing volume picked up on Saturday and Sunday.

On an off-topic note, the weather was outstanding -- sunny, dry, mid-80s -- it got up to 90 today, which is a bit warm for me, but better than the wet 40s and 50s that's common at the Fall shoot.

At Blade East, there is no secret "IN" and you can't buy anything the night before. Now days, it is first come, first serve when Jerry starts unwrapping knives. I don't know about Knob Creek, I have heard of sales the night before, but I don't think that is fair and shouldn't be done, just my opinion.
I don't think that all of the knives that were shown on the wall that Jerry posted made it to the show as the guys that were there first said they didn't see some I asked about. Well, unless they were sold the night before.........

Sounds alot like "insider trading" :foot:

I fast-walked through the crowd immediately following the National Anthem on Friday. I wasn't at the front of the crowd because it took longer to get to the parking lot than I thought. I got to the line of cars entering the access road at 8:30, but didn't reach the back on the crowd until 9:00. AKs, WarBoars, the single BA3, and SHSJ were aready gone. One Silent Knight was available, and it was still there when I left around 2:00PM. I bought a SHBM in Arctic white (unfortunately, I dropped it on the way out to my car and chipped the coating -- I'm going to try touching it up with bright white auto touch-up paint, but I didn't even get it home in mint condition:()

I also got a pack full of Scrap Yards (24), a few of which they only had one of, and a Skinny ASH in Bama clay. Anyway, even when I got there, at the very start on Friday, there was already a lot sold out -- I don't know if selling started before 9 or if the front of the wave was able to grab and check out before I could work my way through. Unlike the Spring sale, I was told that everything hit the tables from the start; there were no set-aside boxes for Saturday or Sunday.

Equitable distribution is a complex topic. On one hand, the Busse crew might set things aside for each of the show days, so that people who come on Saturday and Sunday still have opportunities for highly-sought models. However, there's a Busse tradition of first-come first-served, and if they have somebody who wants a burl-handled Silent Knight for $1397 on Friday, but no assurance that someone will buy it on Sunday, then it only makes sense for them to sell it on Friday.

I benefited from the distribution at this year's show -- I wouldn't have gotten the Scrap Yard "treasures" I did (Arctic white, Bama clay, and Moss coated Yard Keepers and Dumpster Mutts) if they'd have been set aside for other days; the same applies to that SHBM. I understand that you might be frustrated because, since I got them on Friday and many were one-offs, they weren't available for you. I try to make a point of being there at the start on Friday, but I may need to consider getting there even earlier next time -- but the rules might be different next time too, you just never know.

What do you think of the Artic White finish?? Look good with Black or Tan Handle.

I dropped about 9 hundred just to be there...dumb ...three nights 2 days..rental suv...hell the time i took off, that cost me about a grand....it is the way it is ...you pays your money you take your chances, now I know. I ll go when it is a win for me and mine , never to be first again. Trust me , I got NO REGRETS down...Ill just order what I want wait the 2 years plus and save myself the thousands it costs me to be there...should be a sticky about that..the Busse learning curve. It was still a good time...I just wont sweat it as much next year.

This I totally agree. Jerry shows pics of the knives that are supposed to be at the show and people get to the show early to try to get a knife they want and if they have been sold the night before thats really not fair.

But what do I know I didnt make it to the show so I dont know but I can understand the frustration.

Its not a rumor that there was presales...I heard it from the guys right there...alll the AKs are gone ...I was first ,not one was there...my first thought was...this doesnt look like three truck loads of knives...no cheescake ...and if you spread out all the customs thin...yeah it coverd a table...just being brutally honest..If it cost me 2k to be there ..I came to play. Sorry if I sound all butthurt...Its cool...I wouldnt fit in ..Im a Bourbon guy anyways...

I think it looks great with black (the darker the better, for high contrast). It would probably look OK with tan too, but not as good as black (or black & tan G10). Arctic white is a thin, high gloss coat as opposed to the thicker, textured "crinkle" coatings.
