that was me! I have seen the inside ,,,,,,,,,,,they are like Super Fast Secret Proxy Procurement Hogs!!! Its Scary!!!

Hey I remember you! I was the guy in the black Under Armor polo and black Under Armor backpack. Should have introduced myself:o

Its not a rumor that there was presales...I heard it from the guys right there...
From a company that created the hog stampede and hog trickery?

I am interested what the "other" side will say, if someone weighs in. If "the guys right there" were talking about it out there in front of a crowd, more people would know.

Heck I just want to know where the Skunkster mines his pre-92 Busses. Where exactly do the Chipflints and original SK's and Desert Storm hardware come from?

I always assumed Skunk and Jerry were BFF, and anything old found lying around the shop (or elsewhere) would be offered up to him before anyone else.

Ill break it down for you. See the pics of all the knives that were supposedly going to the show. I see 4 of what I know as AKs...now I was first Friday at 9 am I saw with my 2 own hairy eyballs ..No AKs when asked about AKs it was anounced that they were all gone...bippity boppity boo sold before my grimy knuckles could grab one...I was the first guy there once again...the others werent even mentioned so i will give the benifit of the doubt...ok there were no war boars or the awsome arggone assault pictured or any of the others...k That silent knight that everyone is on about wasnt there either....I held the other for a short moment...ok fair enough Ill bite...but the the AKs were mentioned and werent present from the begining..so who gotem ..the guy that was first...naw ...hey you win...Im not making this up...or is all this a piglet trick...you finger it out..Im just gonna play my own game is all...drive on and be safe.

I fast-walked through the crowd immediately following the National Anthem on Friday. I wasn't at the front of the crowd because it took longer to get to the parking lot than I thought. I got to the line of cars entering the access road at 8:30, but didn't reach the back on the crowd until 9:00. AKs, WarBoars, the single BA3, and SHSJ were aready gone. One Silent Knight was available, and it was still there when I left around 2:00PM. I bought a SHBM in Arctic white (unfortunately, I dropped it on the way out to my car and chipped the coating -- I'm going to try touching it up with bright white auto touch-up paint, but I didn't even get it home in mint condition:()

I also got a pack full of Scrap Yards (24), a few of which they only had one of, and a Skinny ASH in Bama clay. Anyway, even when I got there, at the very start on Friday, there was already a lot sold out -- I don't know if selling started before 9 or if the front of the wave was able to grab and check out before I could work my way through. Unlike the Spring sale, I was told that everything hit the tables from the start; there were no set-aside boxes for Saturday or Sunday.

Equitable distribution is a complex topic. On one hand, the Busse crew might set things aside for each of the show days, so that people who come on Saturday and Sunday still have opportunities for highly-sought models. However, there's a Busse tradition of first-come first-served, and if they have somebody who wants a burl-handled Silent Knight for $1397 on Friday, but no assurance that someone will buy it on Sunday, then it only makes sense for them to sell it on Friday.

I benefited from the distribution at this year's show -- I wouldn't have gotten the Scrap Yard "treasures" I did (Arctic white, Bama clay, and Moss coated Yard Keepers and Dumpster Mutts) if they'd have been set aside for other days; the same applies to that SHBM. I understand that you might be frustrated because, since I got them on Friday and many were one-offs, they weren't available for you. I try to make a point of being there at the start on Friday, but I may need to consider getting there even earlier next time -- but the rules might be different next time too, you just never know.

Hey is there any way we could see some pics of your knives. it would be appreciated!

In all honesty, I hear you on all accounts. Whatever presale methods were used this time around and in the past, fine. But pulling a bait and switch on good people who spent good time and money to make their way out to make ghost purchases is rather unfair. They key is what happens the next time around...

I, too, would like to hear the other side of the story.

Hey, it's a private company, they can run it however they like, and so on, but it would be nice to at least know what to expect with respect to how things work.

I have to admit, those photos of the wall-o-INFI -almost- made me go - and I'd be bummed to if some of those items never even saw the show floor.

Ill be there next year...Its a tradition for me, my son and his grandad. Ill stop by next time, see whats left..maybe somebody let something I want slip through. They are most excellent.

Wow....sounds like a miserable depressing uneventful shortfall of a time.

Glad I decided to stay home and weather proof my dog kennel. Oh boy it sure was fun....all the extra unplanned trips to the lumber store and getting to run my teenagers around in my spare time....WOW, sounds like I got the better end of the deal than anyone who went to the "All the Cool Knives are Gone" Knob Creek show.

Maybe in spring, when I start the backyard landscaping, I can charge a couple of grand for folks to come out and help instead of going to the spring Knob Creek and being fully disappointed again.

Hey....just trying to offer up some alternatives. That's the kind of guy I am!

Giving and Sarcastic......yep, that's me!:p

.

I dropped about 9 hundred just to be there...dumb ...three nights 2 days..rental suv...hell the time i took off, that cost me about a grand....it is the way it is ...you pays your money you take your chances, now I know. I ll go when it is a win for me and mine , never to be first again. Trust me , I got NO REGRETS down...Ill just order what I want wait the 2 years plus and save myself the thousands it costs me to be there...should be a sticky about that..the Busse learning curve. It was still a good time...I just wont sweat it as much next year.

I personally want to thank Motorhed66 for posting his experience. I appreciate the education.

I had contemplated going to Blade West or Knob Creek this year but did not because of work. If I do make the trip to an out of town knife show (any show Busse is at will require significant expense including air travel on my part) I'll go with a more realistic expectation.

This causes me to reflect on the Plaza Cutlery show I went to earlier this month. I was looking to buy one or two folders from a popular maker. Because of demand, the maker was not selling any of his folders, rather he was only raffling off the opportunity to buy 4 or 5 folders he brought to the show. If picked, you did not win the knife - you won the opportunity to purchase the knife. In fact 3 or 4 popular makers were doing the exact same thing. I wonder if a similar raffle system makes sense on some of the highly sought after Busse grails?

Yeah.....I would have dug having one of those all Ti XM-24 too! Arizona Custom Knife had one for 1375.00. Such a deal....I'll take 2.

Jerry does something similar at the Blade show in June. It works out pretty good from what I hear. Everybody gets a chance at something very cool. No favorites or back room deals. I dunno.....I guess it works.
