Kinda not happy with a knife maker

Oh no. I have a Masterblaster that failed in extraordinary fashion that I just sent to them. I thought it was odd that they weren't replying to my emails about it. I'm the original owner, and have the receipt of purchase from one of their dealers. I'm way too poor to take a $600 loss.

Uhhh.... what the heck is going on?

Does this thread have to do with the thread with the very same name opened here in GKD, then moved to GBU, then closed?

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/kinda-not-happy-with-a-knife-maker.1527565/

jonathan.nb who opened that one is in this one, and this one just "opened" and picked up where the other left off but was opened by somebody else?!?

o_O

Could we get a mod cleanup or a Venn diagram or a flow chart or something? Between that and all the "I'm not gonna name names but give hints" stuff, I iz confused.

Only specific posts were moved to GBU. I noticed this earlier because i got a notification that "my" thread was moved, and I've never had that message when I wasn't the OP.

This seems to be a complication of the new software, something similar happened months back when a specific post (not the whole thread) was moved by a mod (maybe the same mod?).

Just read the stuff in GBU. Mine has the same problem. It had blade play so bad it rattle when open. I took it apart to see if I could fix it, and the lock bar straight fell off where the unbelievably thin lockbar cutout was done.

I have bought custom/semi-custom three times, and every single time, it was a massive disappointment. I'm going to stick with the guys that have been around and proven they can stand behind their products, from now one. I don't trust individuals, or brothers in this case, anymore.

This is what Eliot said. It’s ferrum forge knife works.

Then There’s businesses like this that don’t stick to there word and stand behind their work. anotherwords I don’t care if I’m thought of as an annoying person I want my knife back.

I have asked for my knife back now. For it to be shipped. If they think there the only ones that can make me a new lock bar their crazy. Their also surely on their way out making the knives they do now and treating people like this.

Oh I dunno, after all, we don't even know who "they" are. I'm sure I'm not alone in reading most of this thread, wondering who it is, seeing all the little clues, and finally just deciding that caring about it at all without actual final verification of whom it may be is too much work. Then apparently it's a collaboration, so now two entities are at fault? I don't know that I'll live long enough for the final reveal on both. To those who have been waiting for work/knives returned/etc from the Mystery Maker?(s)?, best of luck.

It's Ferrum Forge Knife Works. The model in question is the Masterblaster, which is a design collaboration with Les George, however Ferrum Forge are who actually built and warranty the knife, so responsibility is on them.

Yes les gorge has nothing to do with this problem. He was only in on the design.
I posted who the maker is that I have the problem with 4 post up. Foreveryone to see. Thank you j85909266 for your help and input. I am sorry it’s happen to you too.

Looking for advice. not a debate or way to stir up drama.
So I’ll give some details as to what went wrong and ask if I’m being unreasonable.

I don’t want to bad mouth a maker. their good guys. The service is not what I thought it would be.

Warencliff 20cv blade titanium handles. With leviathan finish. Steel lock bar insert. It’s a flipper. Knife cost me $690 with tax.

I’ve flipped the knife over and over. I honestly never thought to check for blade play when I got it. I just didn’t. Should have and always do now. Finish was the only disappointment. They offered to fix it and at some point I thought I would. I gave the knife a good hard flip with my finger one night and happen to check blade play afterwards. Damn there’s lock rock! You Can’t tell when you’re holding the knife in your palm tightly. While fully locked open putting no pressure on the lockbar. There’s some rock to this. Well damn. I took responsibility for it and said I flicked it to hard I guess. Now I really don’t believe it was my fault after seeing so many other knives on YouTube and the way flippers are. Maybe I’m wrong there.

Here’s my problem though. they offered it to be warranty and something they would fix. Also my leviathan finish practically came gray in most lighting. which sucked because there was a premium for that finish. Fix that too. Super!

Estimate given was 4-6 weeks. They had it on 08/04/17 It will be 11 weeks tomorrow. 3 weeks ago I asked the maker hows it looking buddy?

Quote “we’re still deep in another build and have to keep the lights on. Soon as we’re finished with the dealers orders and have a moment to breath we’ll work on your baby”.

Very nice to say but disappointing at the same time for the little guy that spent almost $700 for no bueno results.

Meanwhile emailing the person that handles emails has gone missing since 09/05/17 He last said that day he would go check with the guys.
I don’t mind having to wait. But I would like a conservative time frame so I’m not dissapointed and also don’t leave me hanging. If I was a dealer with a huge order I know my email would be responded to.
Am I Being to impatient?
I responded to maker to please just fix the lock rock when you can and don’t worry about the finish. 3 weeks after that. I emailed their person. No names sorry. I really hope it get a refinish now. Maybe longer time estimates would be a good idea as well. Still no response.

This is How the original thread started since it’s been Separated from the original page.

What a bummer! I feel lucky as my Masterblaster is flawless (thus far). I've also heard such great things about their warranty department. Shame.
