Kith 2010

Tippit: Knife In The Hat. Like putting names in a hat for presents and then picking them out. Once the knives are finished, all names are put in a hat (probably an "e" hat in this case) then picked out and distributed.

Hawks are quite popular. Any type of knife or related project will do. Swords, knives, battle axes, spears, ....whatever you want and to the limits of your abilities is fine.

Stacy,
"I'm in, I will make a knife by Dec 1, 2010"

Thank you for putting this together. This will be a lot of fun.
Mike

Ok when can we start posting pics of the knives.
Never mind I just read Stacy's post again and there it was.

I'm in.. I will make a knife by December 1 2010.

Steve

It is October and the knives should be well along the way by now.
If you haven't emailed me your info, please do it so i can get the lists and shipping labels made up in advance. That way they can go out as soon as the December 1 deadline comes.

I unfortunately may have to withdraw from this. My wife and I have been dealing with a very congested and sick toddler for the last 3 weeks. As a result none of us have been getting much sleep, which means I've basically been out of my shop for a while. What free time I've had has been dedicated to catching up on sleep since I've been too tired to even want to be in my shop to even straighten it up, let alone work on a knife. I have it cut out and profiled, my kid is getting better so we'll see how close I can get. I'm not out of it yet, but I do a fair amount of work by hand and I can't get a knife ready for HT in 2 days like some of you guys can :(

Where would be the best place to post pictures of our KITH knives? In this thread? Custom knife thread? I'm excited to start seeing the knives that everyone is making.

Mike

There will be a photo thread started around Nov.15th.
The thread title will probably be, "Completed KITH Knife Photo Thread".

I finishe the KITH knife today, so here are the first photos! I will post them again when the official thread is started. The stone is Larvikite and it is from Norway. Although it is not really a granite, it is also know as "Blue Pearl granite".

To ensure that the person getting the knife cannot figure out it is my knife - I use an out of state return address for a person who does not have my last name!

We were going to try and hold back a few weeks before posting the photos. Some folks may get discouraged by seeing photos of finished knives while they aren't done yet......then again it may get them moving. We will call yours the inspirational shots. The rest of you folks try and wait for the official thread in a couple of weeks.

Lets wait until the photo thread is started before posting any more pictures.

NOW, If you aren't well along with your knife, get busy. They are due to be finished and in a box in five weeks.
