I'm a bit ashamed of my finish. All was nearly perfect until sharpening, after everything finished and posted that I'm ready i decided to sharpen the convex edge on a mouse pad. I didn't do that before and I didn't notice that the main flat bevel has been scratched with 2000 grit paper. Tried to get rid of those scratches but I f***ed up the hand finish :( I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be able to recover it but as the handle is there I suspect i won't be nice enough... I'm so sorry whomever gets my knife, it is functional but not so good looking with those irregular scratches.. Any suggestions??
Emre

Emre' that is part of the knives "charector".:D

Seeing all of these great knives made by people I enjoy reading posts from makes me very excited about this Christmas!

I had planned to sit this year out due to some fit & finish snafus with my knife's box elder scales that I previously posted about, but I received encouragement from several other members to go ahead and enter the KITH despite them. So, if there are no objections (please send me a PM if there are,) I'd really enjoy participating after all!

Here are my pics (the sheath dye needs to fully dry still, but I got it done just under the wire!)

Thanks guys. With the handle flaws I'm still feeling a little apprehensive about it, so I sincerely hope the recipient isn't too disappointed!

Sorry for the delay in posting, I have been too busy to clean up the photos I took of my KITH "knife". The photos were taken on Thanksgiving Day, and are not as good as I would like, but will do.
The steel is 4140,Hand forged, with the edge and spike hardened.
The handle is spalted, wormy persimmon. It is from a very old board ( 100+ years) that a sawyer friend saved for me. I use a piece now and then for special handles. The wood was stabilized, and I filled the worm holes with dark resin. There is a fine pattern to the wood in spots that is amazing ( see close-up of the head).
Not much else to say.

Here is the dinner that was served that day. Clockwise from the wine:
Sea scallops ceviche - with persimmons, leeks, and avocados
Cous-cous - with pistachios, wild nuts, and berries
Wild rice - with shitake mushrooms, hazel nuts, and black truffles
Roast pheasants - roasted while filled with citrus fruits, thyme, and rosemary
Salad
Crab Cakes
Relish plate
Corn Soufflé'
Cranberry/raspberry/cherry/kumquat relish

It was a good diner.

Thanks,
Yes, A long time ago I used to be a Chef and was Asst. Director of Dining services at Va. Wesleyan College. I do love to put on a nice feed at the holidays.

Here is mine, after looking at the others, well, mine does not come close to the quality. If anyone thinks mine should not be in the exchange, say so,and I will step out.

God bless,Keith

Steel is: SKS5
OAL:7 1/4''
Handle is homemade ''mycarta'' using construction paper

Keith,
AWESOME idea for the handle!! I'd like to ask you to post a "How-to" for making some of that homemade "mycarta" myself.. Would you be willing to post a tutorial?
BTW: Good looking knife!
