KITH - Photos

I am so envious of you guys participating! All these pics really make me want to step up and be able to participate next year... Maybe a Christmas-in-July KITH? ;) Anyway, just wanted to say that these are some incredible looking knives that anybody would be more than proud to give/receive. Thanks for posting the pics, I have thoroughly enjoyed them!

OK I'm ready. i got the sheath done. i used my champion stitcher and it worked good but i can tell i need more practice with it as i am not supper happy with the results. I'm not saying it made a weak stitch but that i just need more experience with the tension. any way it a hard core using sheath and can take some major abuse. enough talk.

Really like your logo, that is sharp! Maybe it would have been a little easier to stitch with less Heineken??? ;) I love the hidden pin look as well; awesome knife/sheath combo!

trust me it the bear came afterwords:rolleyes:. my leather stitcher drives me to drink;). but ya its supper heavy duty.

Well, here is what I came up with.... #18

I fought this one every step of the way, but I did the best I could (without another few weeks to work on it :o). I know I still need lots of practice with my leatherwork. This is my second attempt at a mirror polish, and my second slotted guard. I think it's leather sheath number six.

Specs-
0.20" 440C
OAL: 9"
Blade (tip to guard) 4 5/8"
Desert Ironwood scales
Nickel-silver hardware

NATHAN you have a point I think Bruce B should go practice some more. Matter of a fact I wont be shy I ll invite Bruce to come practice at my shop for a few days and in return I ll take him fishing. Being a top tournament angler up here in SASK might be a tuff one for him to turn down lol. Lets see if he bites. kellyw

Kelly, thats a grand idea. I do need about 7 to 10 days of practise at your place. :D

Here is mine, after looking at the others, well, mine does not come close to the quality. If anyone thinks mine should not be in the exchange, say so,and I will step out.

God bless,Keith

Steel is: SKS5
OAL:7 1/4''
Handle is homemade ''mycarta'' using construction paper

Keith, there is no minimum requirement here. This is just something that we can all do for fun, no matter of experience or skill. This is something that master smith and newbie can enjoy just for the sake of it. No one will be upset to get any of the knives presented here. Most of the fun of it for me is getting to make something to give away that will be enjoyed by someone else.

"Pau" being Hawaiian for finished. Forged 5160 blade, blue liners, curly Koa scales, spring tempered spine, nickel silver corbys. 12 oz. horse hide sheath. Hand rubbed. Still getting it just perfect, though... not that they ever are!

Keith, you made a fine knife and I would be proud to use it. I have never made my own handle material. Thats very cool!

Its fun to be in this each year and the fun doesnt end. Each of these knives are made to use and will be used. Every time I pick up my Christmas knife I think of the person that I recieved it from and cherish it as the gift it is but more importantly because of the person that gave it to me. We are brothers in this knife family and who doesnt like a gift from a brother?

I'm a bit ashamed of my finish. All was nearly perfect until sharpening, after everything finished and posted that I'm ready i decided to sharpen the convex edge on a mouse pad. I didn't do that before and I didn't notice that the main flat bevel has been scratched with 2000 grit paper. Tried to get rid of those scratches but I f***ed up the hand finish :( I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be able to recover it but as the handle is there I suspect i won't be nice enough... I'm so sorry whomever gets my knife, it is functional but not so good looking with those irregular scratches.. Any suggestions??
