Knife case supplier

I use a mom and pop company located in Ct. They make great zippered cases, with the fake wool liner and black leather outer case. They cost $3 each, and they make all sizes. I sell around 50 folders a year which costs me $150 in cases. If I used Bill's Econo cases that are $12 each, that would cost me $600 a year. I just put an extra $500 in my pocket.

I just tried to get pricing info from Bill about his cases and he is rude and told me he isn't interested in a customer who inquires about pricing. I guess Im supposed to just buy the cases from him regardless of the prices.

Here are the emails I sent and his response.
Read from the bottom up.
<snip snarky conversation>

Uhhh...wow...that pretty much clinches it for me, I'll never buy a case from a man who acts that way with a potential customer. I don't care how good it is....

Michael, ya should have called.:)

Bill has too much business and is under a good bit of stress. He works pretty much day and night, don't know how he does it. He's been building knife cases for 30 years and 09 was his busiest year yet. He doesn't need new customers but have never seen him turn down an order, except for dealers. We all get cranky from time to time. Hell, I'm cranky right now...

Being cranky is one thing, being cranky to someone interested in buying a product you are trying to sell is unacceptable and stupid. If he doesn't want or need new customers than he should put on his web site that he is not accepting new orders right now.
If I saw that I wouldn't have bothered emailing him.
If you in a bad mood then wait until tomorrow to answer the email. Don't screw up your chance to make a sale. I don't think thats good business no matter how busy your year was.
You wouldnt do that, would you?
Michael

DITTO. A great product made by a rude pompous ass is of no interest.

Michael, I'm not speaking for Bill, just try to provide a little history. I do know, Bill would much rather communicate by phone.

Than he shouldn't put his email address on his web site.
No more excuses, he was arrogant and unprofessional.

Now im cranky! All because a wanted to buy a couple of cases.

I'd calm down if you send me one of those beautiful bowies you make.
I'll send you an email and let you know which one I want.
Wait, maybe I should call instead!:jerkit:;)
Michael

What a crappy way for him to respond to an email , and I agree , if he doesn't want to reply to email or doesn't prefer email , remove the address from his website...

what is even more odd is it says right on his site:
The best way to contact me is through email: billscustomcases@earthlink.net

Maybe putting up some prices would help , if I go to any website , and no prices are listed , I will not bother to inquire , I will find another vendor/dealer/maker/supplier , etc.

I can understand Michael's reaction but you other guys are gettin too worked up.

John, I said Bill prefers the phone, didn't say he doesn't want emails. First thing he ask Michael to do, was call him.

Michael, best way to get a bowie, is call me :D

Michael

Bull**it!!!! :D You made all that up. No one is that much of an a**hole outside of the movie industry.

Really???

Rob!

I have been using cases from Uncle Al at Riverside machine, but have been considering Bill's cases, mainly because of the extra padding and extra features, like sheath straps. Also just to play devils advocate, it says right on his site to call for sizes and pricing.

Best prices I have found on decent cases is Smokey Mountain Knife works.

Boy, Did I ever poke a stick in a hornets nest.
Rob gave me the contact info of a manufacturer in BC. It might even be the one who was making my cases for Rick Frigault ( which would be good, because they would have my tabs on hand). I'll check them out and check with Karl's supplier.
Now, everyone go and make a bowie and send it to Michael.
Stacy

You really did it, Stacy! :D

I better get started on that bowie for michael...

Im just a little cranky now. Just post a pic of one of your bowies and I'll be fine.

How about pic of that one you made with the hamon and the ivory handle?:D

Hey, anyone one want to sell me some of bills cases? He wont sell them to me.:jerkit:
Thanks
Michael

Michael, I'm about to get started on that bowie for you, but I'm going to need something to ship it to you in. Why don't you pick up one of Bill's cases and send it to me so I can ship your knife out. :D:D;)
