Knife customization gone wrong

We all start somewhere. Personally I've really enjoyed watching your progression CM. And only the brave dare put it all out there for the world to see and comment.

I've done sone pretty ugly stuff myself. Most recently with anodization. And a nfew days ago tried my first sets of scales. Not bad, but not good either.

And one of my all time prizes...... 15+ years ago I picked up a gold plating setup. In my efforts to practice and improve, I was determined to pimp daddy everything. I'm pretty sure I've posted my all-time prize here in the past. But.....ok, here goes........ I had just purchased my second Glock (a 26), to meant for EDC CCW. Right over the Tenifer (I think that was coating at the time). And to add insult to injury, I didn't particularly clean the oils off well. Some day I'll dig it out of it's corner of shame, and take some glamour shots. :D. But I didn't stop there. I also did my wife's S&W 3913NL. Both still in the safe to remind me of my shame. :).

Now you HAVE to show them! :D:thumbsup:

Sorry guys i actually think some of that stuff is great, would i carry ? IDK, but the tenacious belongs on the set of Mad Max for sure.

Yes the cars are from the Bosozoku subculture.

They come with hair that matches the cars.

I found these pictures online and just had to share.

The seller is asking about $100 over list for these 'engraved' knives.

Truly, er, unique work.

Anybody got more pictures to share in this, er, genre?
This is called polishing a turd and trying to sell it too!

I have issues with that as well, why is it OK to mock any custom work even if it is anonymous? Every time I see a thread aimed at creating negative thoughts towards makers, craftsman, or even other knife users, it seems like it's damaging to an otherwise accepting atmosphere.

I see the skill behind the engraving you shared, sure it's not the best work I've seen by a long stretch but if you compare the work of a novice to a master's creation of course it'll look crude and laughable; does that make it acceptable to mock it? I don't think so, and I'm not sure why others like you seem to think it's fine.

I don't think it's okay to mock it, especially since he's not here to defend himself. However, I'm not the engraver's grandmother either, if it suck, it sucks. It's not the worst engraving ever, but it's still pretty bad, he needs to practice... a lot, before trying to sell.

If you don't want to be criticized or mocked, don't put your stuff on the internet. If you do, it's fair game.

Don't be ashamed. I had a few drinks and tried to regrind an ultratech. I don't know what I was doing, but this was the result. Alcohol + bench grinder = bad

Kids, don't be stupid like me. Machinery is dangerous and should not be operated under the use of alcohol or drugs. If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, please refrain from using such equipment. Serious injury or death can occur from such negligence.

So true! I watched a buddy in high school shop class file a "V" hole into an "8" hole on....you could guess.

I don't know if it falls into the Bosozuko Niche, but I always had a soft spot for the bright LED Lambos with flashy wraps:

I would never have a car like this. But then again, I would never be able to afford a lambo.

However in a fantasy sense, these are freaking awesome!

I wouldn't do it to my own car either (aside from the fact that it's totally illegal here to do), but from a visual standpoint it's kind of neat to look at.

Agreed, it just shows a certain level of passion and enthusiasm to put time, money and effort into it. It's like a comic book in real life in a way.

I don’t know.. I kind of like it. Especially that last one with green lights.

I think it looks kind of cool. Face it driving these in the city the cars are fulfilling the exact purpose they were bought for, showng off. I think ground effect lights are kind of cool to be honest.

I agree, alcohol and power tools don't mix well, but for some reason I kinda like your results. It's a little crude but the clip point you made is pretty nice.

I call it: The Drunken Slicer:D

Some day I'll send it out to someone more qualified than myself for a serious regrind.
