Knife destruction test question

But we don't know how big the beatings are. There are very general ideas of how many hammer blows or how many flexes, but the applied force isn't measured. I still think it is fine in that it shows those few knives that managed to not completely fail with brittle fracture. But if you side load the blade and it bends, then you can't pry with it. And if you weren't prying with it, then why were you side loading it in the first place? So bending even without breaking would be a failure, imo. Or, sticking to knifeliness, how deep is the edge damage, since you can't cut without an edge. If you end up with a bar of steel at the end, that's fine if you need a bar of steel, but not if you need a knife.

Noss had discussed these things in the videos, but it all got overwhelmed by the internet's ability to focus, discard, and amplify. Either the overall idea of the test without details became a major factor in purchases for some, or it became a thing to crusade against with absolutely no merit in any way shape or form for others. Some got entertainment, but we can't be allowed that luxury in the serious business of tactical knives.

That is the sad truth. I, for one, am for any kind of test or demo. It's just another data point to consider as long as it's interpreted correctly.
My original post seems to have elicited a few emotional replies even as it was made with tongue in cheek.

ha you busse fanboys are are too much. what u want to say is infi is the onl good steel and busse are the only good knives. y does everyone feel the need to down grade other blades and steels just cause ther knife was way overpriced and over hyped. i never seen a heavily used busse in my life but in noss's video and ive never heard any well the busse cuts only how badass it is. im not sayin they are bad but grow up all you brand fanboys. judging buy the knifetests a 500 + battle mistress isnt worth the dramatic price jump from a junglas at 120+ one they will both get u out of a tough spot. thickness of edge and spine along with heat reat are most important when trying to demolish a knife. not jerry busse logo on the blade

This one didn't do all that well in the apple peeling or webbing cutting tests, but the farther into the protocol it went the better it performed.

Folks, there are reasonable ways to get our points across without dragging the thread down into the realm of trolling or finger pointing. Consider this fair warning so that we can avoid any further issues on that front.

they can downgrade every other maker and steel and try to sell thier maker and thier knife as better, but if i call them out for it and im the troll?

If they want to portray themselves and that brand in that kind of light, it is their problem. When you take it and make it personal you are trolling.
