Im normally an open and use.

If you already have that size, pattern to use...I'd probably keep it in the packaging.

It is pretty neat!

I'd probably break down eventually and carry it....though!

You know me John:eek: I'm a throw it on a tin roof, dig a hole and bury it for a week or two, soak it in a cup of coffee, or throw it in the washer/dryer, kinda guy but in this case, I'd leave it as is. Perhaps display it over your leather working bench in your shop or somewhere else that you can see it and maybe bring a smile to your face:).

I have so many knives (including several stockman which is what that looks like) that I'd probably just keep it the packaging as decoration for the den. I find it much easier to go hard on and use knives that I bought new myself than ones that have survived a long time in good condition or were given to me.

I suspect that most people don't buy a 30 yr old, new in package, item to cut open and use... especially not if a premium is paid. It's usually out of appreciation for the collectible condition - that it is unopened - that the purchase is made. That said, what prompted YOU to buy it? If it was an appreciation and desire for the knife itself, liberate it from that packaging & pocket it. If it was because of the age and intact packaging, appreciate those things for a while... remember - you can always change your mind and open/use it later; but, if you open it, it will never again be the item you felt compelled to purchase.

If you found it without the original blister pack, would you have purchased it? I think the packaging is at least an equal part of the coolness on this one.
