The blister pack will eventually breakdown anyway...happended to an OT stockman I bought....what I would do is remove the plastic , laminate the picture label and do a nit of CFing of the knife....who made red ryders btw? never seen one.

I think the bigger dilemma is how would you even get it out of that package, since the knife is inside!

Personally, I'd make the decision to leave it in the package... and then constantly second guess myself if I want to use it, save it, or sell it. Then I'd get tired of constantly thinking about it, and decide I should just sell it because I'd never use it. And then I'd open it and use it, because what's the point in having it if I'm not going to use it. But that's just me...

So many great rsponses...
Is there anyone who is close to you who you think will appreciate it being in the package after you're gone?
I plan to live forever. ;)

Perhaps display it over your leather working bench in your shop
Oh shoot... That's a good idea too.

That said, what prompted YOU to buy it?
I definitely bought it to open and use, but it does look cool in the packaging.

If you already have other knives you use why not leave this one in the package?
I may have another knife or two laying around somewhere. :)

If you found it without the original blister pack, would you have purchased it?
Yes, I definitely would. I like these cheaper knives that remind me of my childhood.

engrave "FLIPPER BAIT" on the clip blade
Lol... :D:thumbsup:
I bought it for twelve dollars, perhaps I can flip it for an even twenty. :D

who made red ryders btw?
It's Imperial of Ireland.

I think the bigger dilemma is how would you even get it out of that package, since the knife is inside!
Lol... :D:thumbsup:

Its a Sherriff Woody V Stinky Pete scenario.
I had actually thought of that... Great minds.

I’d keep it in the package.

Usually Imma use it and enjoy kinda dude, but that’s just too cool to see it in it’s packaging.

I would display it as is.

You know what, the fact you’ve made it this long without opening it, why open it now? I’d want to open and use it to, but why? Makes it that much more unique and cooler. Keep it like it is. I’m sure you got a bunch of other knives to use anyways!

Can't tell you what you should do but I can tell you that against a lot of advice I'm using my Victorinox/Mauser SAK. When I die the family will probably sell off (or worse) most of my knives and I'm not a collector so I figure I might as well use them.

Ask yourself a single question : what would you have done if you'd get it when you were a youngster.
Then, remember you've grown up. ;)
When young, I'd've ripped it from the package, and put the package in the trash.
Now that I'm older and (supposedly) "grown up" and (allegedly) wiser, I'd carefully remove it from the package, and keep the package. :D
