I looked at it again this morning.
I like to just look at it, I think it's cool.
Then I noticed something on the main blade, something orange.

John, John, John.:( What am I gonna do with you? You've got to come to your senses.

I took this picture minutes ago. A Daisy Red Ryder bought 25-years ago for my Grandson still in it's box.:)

Just leave the knife in it's package, hang it up over your leather work bench and appreciate it.:)

That is all.

I voted to keep it in the package, which left me dumbfounded as I am normally a "use or or lose it" accumulator of knives. It might be nice to keep this pristine stockman as a backup in case you lose or break one of your users.

I'm glad I don't have to make this decision for myself.

He's not getting a lot of fun out of it, is he? ;)

If you put it in a box, it will be Schrodinger's Knife.
That's just it... It's in a box... for now. ;)

What? Is that a math term, or something from Doctor Who?
My son is finishing up his degree in Physics.
He keeps trying to teach me about Quantum Mechanics
I'm afraid I can't wrap my mind around some of it, so don't ask me to explain. :D

The actual meaning of 'dilemma' is a choice between two equally unfavourable or unpleasant options;)

So, whatever you do it's inherently wrong :D unless of course you return it to the vendor or host a GAW with it  Then the crushing burden of decision and torments of conscience are going to pass to the winner....

The knife is in a Quantum Superposition
It is both the Best knife I own and the Worst knife I own
(Prods blisterpack gently with stem of pipe then gazes into middle distance deep in philosophical thought.Strokes chin with thumb and index finger for added gravitas.)

Yeerss yeerss of course.
And Yet...can it be said to even be a knife? Does it actually exist or is it a mere image of a knife. I say that until it is at the very least clicked open and thumbed..it is not a knife at all!

So its accursed?
Right then...get me a frog ,a princess, 3xbillygoats, some beans, a troll, an ogre, a pair of leathern boots and a small pair of scissors....preferably made by Grimwald The Smith circa 846ad with runic inscription on only one blade! translated as
" BLISTER RIPPER".

Just got this in the mail.
Part of me wants to keep it in the original packaging.
Part of me wants to pull the knife out, pocket it, and use it.
It's been sitting in the package for 30 years.

I used to do this with comic books. Buy two, use one, and keep the other in the packaging.

It is an inexpensive knife made for a kid, so the value is in the combination of knife in package as it existed when sold - NOSTALGIA from the look of the packaging designed to appeal to a kid. It won’t be a GEC or Case and ride in your pocket regularly, so put a nail in the wall and hang it up there and enjoy it as art! Or use it and toss it in the cigar box with another 20 or so EDC’s. Me, I’d keep that one for the sheer pleasure of looking at it. OH

After all the good thoughts on both sides of the aisle, I’d be trying to find a way to do sneaky surgery on the packaging, take it out to satiate the crazy need to hold it, discover the W&T, etc., and then tape/glue it back up for posterity on a nail in your shop. You are probably not trying to maintain it for a financial investment along side your Tesla stock, so this seems like a best of both worlds.

I voted keep it as is. You probably have enough knives that you are currently using, so while adding this one to the pile is intriguing, I would say what makes it more special than any old cheap knife is that it IS still in the package. I would wager that while it doesn't have a ton of collector value, it is valuable because it's still in the package, and there are far less of these in the package than out.
