I literally had someone tell me I don't have EDC knives, I actually have EDR (every day robbery) knives. What???

They proceeded to tell me that Microtech otfs and any "razor sharp" knife with a flipper is just to rob, stab, or hurt people, and has no place in society,.....but that if I wanted a serious knife that I can only have a Victorinox.

May be the most narrow minded bull I've heard in a while, and to me the person was trying to equate any knife (other than a sak) as a weapon of violence and destruction. I let them know to look up hoplophobia, as they have it bad.

Knife laws have racist and discriminatory roots, I have no patience for narrow minded lack of critical thinking. Makes me even happier to have joined Knife Rights.

The person went too far, but ..."Microtech Knives is a leading knife maker, located in Asheville, NC. We specialize in tactical, automatic, and OTF knives". That's their self-description. Unless tactical now means good for opening boxes and peeling apples :p, that's closer to that person's meaning than EDC

I try to avoid fools.

And if I must be in the presence of fools then I refuse to converse with them.

And if fools insist on sharing their foolish views in my presence then I make a point of disregarding and dismissing those views, and give them no further consideration.

In my opinion, to look upon an OTF, a "razor sharp" knife, or a knife with a flipper exclusively as a weapon of criminals, is sufficient evidence to clearly identify that person as a fool.

The danger is this line of thinking is spreading due to ulta-liberals and scared liberals. They see anything that could be used inappropriately as a threat to urban society and must be controlled or banned.

How many young kids are taught to use a knife and carry a pocket knife, how many go shooting or hunting with a parent or grandparent?... The liberal snowflakes are trying to eliminate all of that heritage and self-reliance.

This is one more reason to support knife rights and the work Doug Ritter does, and join your local sportsmen club and 2A organization.

I live in Switzerland, our knifes laws is based on misconceptions against knives

For make it simple

-Slip Joint folder, friction folder, manual locking folder with one or two hand and with a simple edge, little fixe blade with a non-agressive look and a simple edge = legal to own, and okay to carry

- big fixed blade, fixed blade with agressive look BUT a simple edge = Legal to own, okay to carry but a cop can confiscate it if he thinks you may be ill-intentioned (but
you will not have issue with justice, you only loose your blade )

- Automatic side folder, OTF, double edge knife = illegal to own without a special permit, illegal to carry without a VERY SPECIAL permit

Hello ! Just a few things that you did not mention. If the blade of a doubled edged knife is over 30 cm. it is legal to own, otherwise thousands of people who kept their grand-dads 11 or 31 rifle/carbine baionette would be in trouble, and exeptions are made for the officers dress dagger. Butterfly knives and assisted opening knives are also illegal. Switchblades with a blade less than 5 cm. are legal. Böker created a swichblade with a 4.8 cm. blade called the Böker Plus Stubby Swiss D2 for the swiss market. Greetings from Villeneuve, Vaud.

It was just a matter of time before how knives looks get demonized the same way "evil black guns" have in order to continue and extend the campaign to divide and conquer a significant portion of the population. I know it's been happening for a while, but it's going to get worse before it gets better. Falling for the ploy and changing behavior is a poor response. Participating in securing individual rights by participating with organizations like kniferights.org like you did is a good response! Stay in the fight!

Any knife can be used to "rob, stab or hurt people."

What about razor-sharp SAKs? I guess those have no place in society either.

If some people had their way, the only cutting tools we would be allowed to have would be safety scissors and you would have to be a professional (licensed) chef to buy a pairing knife. The chef would have to keep his knives locked up at work in a government-sanctioned safe, no bringing them home. Also, you have to be a licensed sharpener to own any sharpening equipment. Licensed sharpeners must have a class 3 permit to own anything above a pull-through sharpener, after all, no one NEEDs a razor-sharp knife to slice onions.

I use all my razor sharp knives at work

So they are actually razor sharp tools lol
