Knife discrimination

I'm sure many of us have seen this delightfully misguided sculpture constructed from knives collected by anonymous dropboxes and police seizures from crime scenes/patdowns/etc. It's an art installation designed to encourage Britons to surrender their cutlery. Informed observers will note the vast majority of these knives are kitchen knives, likely including more than one Victorinox paring knife. But sure, my Kershaw Leek is more menacing.

Too many times I’ve been called out for having knives that are too tactical, too large, too ridiculous. They’re Hogues, Zt’s, spydercos etc. Things like, “ are you chopping down a tree”, “who do you plan on killing with that”. Stuff like that. You got to just shrug it off.

Any knife can be used to "rob, stab or hurt people."

Exactly, it's this stupid focus on the implements rather than the responsibility of those wielding them that makes me crazy. Guns, knives, hammers, screwdrivers, etc, etc, don't kill people. People kill people. By this logic cars, trucks and other vehicles can be used to hurt people so I suppose should ban all of them as well? Okay, maybe only if they look scary in some way.

Edit: My older son took those pics. I gave him the Norinco MAK90 on his 18th birthday. A couple years later I gave him a pristine Remington-Rand made 1911A1. He bought the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn before he deployed and carried it in Iraq. Sadly, all came back to me after he was killed over there.

That's one reason I like living in Mississippi. I can pull out my Adamas, or Shaman, or 4 Max Scout and no one really bat's an eye. They might say something about the size of knife I carry, but then they pull out a sak, or case, or Kershaw and we chat knives or guns or whatever.

What REALLY throws people for a loop is when they find out I'm a leftist. That is when people's heads explode.
