Recommendation? Knife for a Police officer

Like others have said, the micarta scales at that price point is a problem.

Metal handled knives? Cold Steel Code 4?

I'm sure someone has bought a smooth, metal handled knife like the Code 4 and epoxied (sp?) some thin micarta over the metal handle scales. Maybe someone on the forums has tried.

Viper Ten/Start/Keeper were also the ones I would have suggested at least within/close to the parameters. Personally I would go with something in G-10 and favor a (subjectively) better knife/tool over a (subjectively) better handle material.

Slightly over budget but the Steel Will Gekko has a micarta handle and looks pretty solid.

There is a buck that is being made for $100 that has brown micarta handles

Buck maverick, 3.25" 20cv blade, brown canvas micarta handles, pocket clip, liner lock $95

He doesn't really sound like a knife knut? Would G-10 Really bother him? If not Cold Steel Recon1 or CS Swift.

Please buy a USA made product.
I'm not buying anything. She is buying this for her husband.

He's not a knife knut at all. The knife is a tool.

If he were a knife knut, he would understand the wonderful properties of G10 and he'd be able to compare/contrast with micarta. Instead, he just doesn't like the feel and that's going to dictate the decision. As I said, I actually much prefer micarta myself, so I can't really blame him...

That's pretty awesome, but it's a preorder and limited to 250 pieces.

Viper from Maniago (Italy) has some cool folders with mostly D2 or N690 blades and micarta handles for around 100-150 dollars. It might be worth checking them out.

My goodness... to me, that's the winner. I've never seen that knife, and with a little more research that bad boy looks like a real winner as a work knife. If it is comfortable in the hand, that looks like one helluva grip on that knife, and a great blade shape, too.

Later... Just watched the video on BladeHQ, what a nice knife!

Do you have any suggestions of US produced knives that fit those parameters? Honestly curious. The Buck Open Season Pro folder is the closest I could find, and it's out of the OP's price range.

They often go for less on secondary. Though prices have gone up. When I bought mine, they were going for >$70 street. That’s my favorite buck folder.

The only quality knives in your price range that I know about that have micarta are both Buck 110 Folding Hunters (a great knife). One is standard weight and one lighter.

Link to non-supporting dealer removed

The tips on these strong knives would do well for light prying.

My vote is the zero tolerance 0562 g10 scales. It is the strongest pocket knife I have used on duty, and the most versatile. It’s worth the extra cost, especially as an LEO.
