Recommendation? Knife for a Police officer

I carry a manix 2 lt all black. He needs to drop the micarta condition.

Five years as a narcotics detective I carried one of those SAK German army knives. Used it daily.

Not just you specifically, but why are people knocking a guy for having a preference for micarta? When I first got into knives I kinda hated G10, it's a perfectly adequate handle material but it's just... boring usually. I still have a strong preference for scuplted handles, but have come to more or less tolerate plain slabs of G10.

Forget about micarta. Get a CS Recon 1.

This. Doesn't matter how much you look at it, you wont beat a Recon for strength/size/weight/performance for the price. And it will still beat knives 10x it's price in almost all categories.

Maybe a Benchmade Grizzly Ridge? Price is 123 bucks, pocket clip, proper size, axis lock makes for easy opening and closing, and the handle is a hard material with a rubbery feeling called Versaflex. Its not micarta, but it isnt G10 either. Worth a shot id say. I'm a huge fan of mine.

There just aren't many good budget, work folders with micarta. Also there will never be a day that he's using his knife for more than a few seconds, so handle material shouldn't matter much.

I'm a huge micarta fan but for a work folder, the light FRN handles of the delica or manix 2 LT should be fine

There is a buck that is being made for $100 that has brown micarta handles

Very true. The Recon 1 is a great work knife. Slightly smaller but just as high quality is the American Lawman. Both are excellent for the money.
