Knife for dress pant carry?

Here is my choice .. although I'm not sure you can find one anymore.

+1 on the benchmade mini grip, also cant go wrong with mini bone collector except the textured g10 might be a little rough on the pants.

Some great choices have already been mentioned (along with considering carrying a single-blade traditional, or even an alox SAX cadet for that matter)....Sage 1 or 2, Chapparal, Mnandi, BM 707, or most any WH folder. Depends on your price range, really.

William Henry all day!

I believe if you go higher end, you might be able to get WHs with a blue anodized Ti clip.

When I wear dress slacks, I usually carry one of two knives - my WH or my CRKT Eros. The Eros is extremely light (Titanium & just 1.4 oz for the larger version, 0.7 oz for the smaller) and easy on pants material. The only issue is that the clip is not black but more of a grey like the handle.

Another vote for the Chappie. As thin and sleek as they come, and a wicked slicer to boot.

I'm searching for a pocket clip knife to wear with dress pants.

Black clip needed (one that will not tear up my dress pants), handle needs to be smooth (again to prevent damage), needs to be light and sharp.

Ideas?

What is your budget?
What blade length?
Weight?
Manual, assisted, automatic, flipper, etc.?

Tried the Benchmade mini grip, one of my favorite knives but the grip on the handle was giving my pants issues, the clip is perfect, but never could get it to work.

Benchmade mini-grip. You can get a deep carry black clip from them as well.

if its good, open budget

You really need to specify a max man, a lot of us have no issue carrying a $500+ knife as an EDC user. For example the William Henry knives already mentioned in this thread start at $300+ and quickly go up to $1400+. Saying "open budget" isn't the best idea around here.

There really isnt any other choice when it comes to a suit and tie knife. William Henry knives are the lightest, classiest knives you can find period. The deep carry clip lets it disappear in your pocket and look like a pen. I absolutely love my E6 and plan on an E10 to match.

William Henry B12 Atlas with a super-sharp 3" blade of ZDP-189 steel, titanium handles, button lock and weighing just 2 ounces.

Budget option - Kershaw Leek with a deep carry black clip (there are a few makers here that produce them).

You might consider a leather pouch/sleeve with a clip. I know WH delivers them with their clipless models. Not sure you can buy one separately. I think a sheath maker or two here on BladeForums make them. Also, might consider a clip less sleeve like Chris Reeve makes. For me, and dress situations, the Mnandi in a pouch in my pocket, WH in a pouch with a clip, or the WH E6/E10 with clip. Mike

Mini-Grips work well also. Their clips tend to be a bit larger than the others I mentioned.

The William Henry EDC are the best option in my opinion. They retail for about $300 not as bulky as a lot of the other benchmade and spyderco suggestions. Like others have said, a budget and usage would help narrow down the list.
