Knife for my wife!

I've purchased/gifted EDC gear for numerous women who I might consider 'scatter brained' and to my surprise, none of them have yet to lose anything. That fact has led me to conclude that, if I was in a serious relationship and was going to purchase a blade for someone I love and cherish so much, price and the fear of them losing an expensive knife are far less important than buying a high quality knife that they'll love (cause it's from me and serves their needs) and that I'm proud to see them carry and use (because it's an awesome blade, one I'd love to have/would buy for myself). Now, honestly, perhaps I wouldn't gift a Sebenza...I don't even yet own one myself...but perhaps I would. There's more happiness in giving, IMO.

That being said, spending a lot of money on a gift hardly guarantees appreciation and there are a ton of high quality knives the don't cost a lot ie. the Tuff Lite/Mini Tuff Lite you mentioned.

I gravitate towards Spyderco, so I would suggest:

-Dragonfly (G10 or SB)
-Chaparral
-Native 5 (G10)
-Squeak
-Sage
-Caly 3
-Dice

Best of luck to you, whatever you decide. [emoji2]

Give her that Nakamura u traded from me lol. That's a perfect small knife plus its super tough, has the safest lock in the business, and is also backed by one of the best warranties in the industry

I just recently purchase a ceramic knife set with multi color handle. My wife don't like the colourful handles lol I am planning to purchase her a BMK040 Five Piece Ceramic Kitchen Set (Pink Handles) I hope she will like it.

My wife doesn't like to carry anything with weight or bulk, as she usually only has a smallish purse. I've offered her pretty much anything I have, and for a while she kept a smaller Shrade. But recently picked up a Spyderco Ladybug Salt. It is small, but has good utility...and weighs almost nothing. Even the size up Dragonfly has non existent weight. I keep a Dragonfly Salt in my back pocket as well as a more significant blade.

But I hear the posts about keeping it cheap in case of loss. If it's not attached to her, my wife will lose it. Also, I just gave my daughters boyfriend a ZT 0770CF for his birthday. Within days he lost it. I know it was a gift and crap happens, but I'm still a little ticked off. :)

About a year ago, my mother stepped into a knife convo between my father and I to say she wanted something for opening packages at the office. She wanted something easy to open and said that a clip would be nice so it didn't settle amongst the detritus at the bottom of her purse. She would have been pleased with any $12 selection that fit those criteria, but I couldn't let her carry something that would be an embarrassment to my father or myself ;), and she is a small lady who likes pretty things. The natural choice was to buy her this:

Several have recommended Spydies already. Tough to go wrong with any of them. Definitely good enough for the women in my life :lemo:

Thatnk you all very much for your suggestions so far. Her favorite out of the bunch as of now is the Kershaw Shuffle Tanto:

She just wishes it came in purple like the regular shuffle does now...

We're still looking, though. I really like the idea of the Kershaw Camber, but I don't think she likes assisted knives. I'll have to take her to a sporting goods store and see if she digs the concept (I basically never have any kicking around, so she hasn't really tried one AFAIK)

The Native is a very good suggestion! Not too expensive (if you get the FRN model), good steel, good company... I'll have to see what she thinks about those. Are the FRN models pinned?

A dufferent approach then a purple shuffle2, how about something plain handled like a Kershaw Ember;

Or a CRKT Squid

And have the handle engraved with something likes; flowers, paw prints, stars and the moon, whatever...

My wife does not share my love of pocket knives but she did carry a spyderco cricket for a bit because it was "cute".

FRN Spyderco Dragonfly. it will fit in her tiny purses and in her tiny pockets, or clip inside the waistband of her skirt. It is as usable as a much bigger knife, too. And, it comes in PURPLE!

Buck 55 or a Buck 110.

I would have her try both of the above knives and a Buck or another brand smaller fixed blade knife too.

She can carry a knife in a fanny pack easily while she is working at her other jobs too.

Have her HANDLE THE KNIFE as she would any other tool or a handgun.

Added more.

Dragonfly, tuff lite or leek imo. All have nice options for color as well.

I personally have given my lady a pink tufflite(which she lost[emoji25]), a rainbow leek and manix lw in bd1.

Thank you. The "doesn't matter as long as it's pink" replies that always accompany these threads make me nuts. If I gave my wife a pink knife, she'd stab me with it.

What knife do you get a woman? The same one as you would get for yourself.
Marci, what if your woman has different tastes than you?

My wife prefers Spyderco's (she likes the little Spyder) and has several Dragonfly's, Crickets and the "Bug" set. She also likes Benchmade Mini-Grips. I'd go for either a Dragonfly/Delica or Mini-Grip.

My fav small beater knife is an HK 14715. It's not "girly" and pink, but then not all wives are "girly" and pink.

If I could talk my wife into carrying a knife, it would be a Benchmade. The reason is that you can disengage the AXIS lock without putting your fingers near the blade path. For a non experienced knife user, that's important.

My girlfriend keeps three knives on her...two I bought, one she bought for herself after realizing the usefulness of carrying a knife. A purple ladybug, a purple dragon fly sprint run...she ended up buying a purple benchmade mini grip with black blade and thumbhole in S30V. Light, easy to use, durable and sexy!

My wife likes a yellow Vic Classic. She has one in her purse right now. Unfortunately, it's about #4 or #5 yellow Vic Classic because she's forgotten it's in there and goes to get on airplane.... Or enter a county courthouse (metel detectors).

But she really loves it, we laugh about this, and I get her a new one every time. If you're married (or in a serious relationship), you'll understand perfectly.

I started of giving my gf a little cheap pink kershaw. At the time all I knew was she had a crappy beat up gas station knife that was terrible but didnt know if she really liked knives. So cheap was the way to go. As she started liking knives more next I got her a pink rat2. Then a pink izula...then a black spyderco manix lightweight...then a pink native light weight..and most recently a zt 0566. Coolest part of my 'wife' now being fully into knives is she understands the difference between cheap and decent knives. She got my a gen 3 0550 for christmas and a para2 four months later for my bday.

Id recommend the rat 2. Great great knife. If you want to spend a little more a native lw is good.

I'd suggest a Spyderco Spin or a Cricket. I got both of them in a trade and I find them missing quite regularly. She likes the straight edge of the Spin when doing actual cutting, and the recurve of the Cricket when opening boxes, plastic bags and mail.
