Knife for my wife!

My wife and I were just dating when I bought her first pocket knife. A Vic Super Tinker. I could tell that she did not feel as if she would ever use it but she said thank you and put it her car. That was eight years ago. Today, I would have a fight on my hands if ever tried to use it.

Once, we were at a gun show and she "informed" me that I had to buy her a second SAK. Who am I to argue? She picked out a knife and, like a good husband, I made my wallet weigh a little less. The knife she picked out gets used more than the Super Tinker I bought her. Based on this experience, I guess that my recommendation would be to let her pick out her own knife. Pick a dollar amount you both are comfortable with and then let her shop. Oh, listen to the banter between your spouse and the sales staff. What she says may be very enlightening to you.

On a side note, I ask my wife what she would suggest for your wife and her response was, "Something small and pretty." This comes out of the mouth of a self proclaimed tomboy; who did not even own a dress when we started dating.

I will never figure out women.

You should probably buy a couple and let her pick one out...

My "wife" very quickly appropriated the first Kershaw Cryo I bought. That's the knife she carries pretty much daily. She also has an Ontario Rat 2 that sees some use around the house. Of mine that she threatens to steal: Mini Tuff Lite, Spyderco Tenacious, Spyderco Persistence, Kershaw Zing, Kershaw Needs Work. A few of these were bought with the intention of upgrading her EDC but she refused to let any kick the Cryo out of her pocket/waistband.

She very much enjoys metallic handles. She will deal with plastic more so than g10 and refuses the concept of a g10 slabbed frame lock.

If she enjoys the Sanrenmu you already gave her, the Cryo may be a perfect step up. Like has been mentioned, it may be best to let her pick though.
