Knife For Rambo 4

If hes lying low, then he won't have fancy knives. He'll probably use a cheap kitchen knife in a makeshift sheath he grabs when the BGs come looking for him. He'll have to use his training and experience to improvise weapons to fight the BGs rather than a fancy knife.

Fred Perrin. And put him in the movie too. Like they did with Brian Little in The Edge.

With what for a back-up? Envisioning his 2 thousand dollar custom breaking at the correct Hollywood moment.

I hope Stallone is reading this thread and taking notes. On Saturday night, he was on Larry King Live and said that he just signed on to do Rambo IV. He said the story goes something like this...

Rambo is married with a child and working on a U.S. military base. He somehow exposes a drug ring on the base and for the safety of his family, he moves them to a remote wilderness cabin. Somehow the "drug ring guys" discover where he is living and go to hunt him down. Of course, you can imagine the rest of the story....60 year old, ex-Green Beret has to use his skills to protect his wife and child.

Works for me! :D

Filming is suppose to start in about 5 months. I guess he needs time to pick a knife.

If they want to keep the hollow handle theme, Chris Reeve is the way to go.

If they are ready to grow out of the hollow handled theme and show some taste, a Randall is what they need.

The only problems with Randalls (for a movie) is that they might look too nice, and not as "tactical" (id est, black blades and wicked looks) as they need. A big bad Swamp Rat or a Busse might be the answer then.

Still, I'd love to see a Randall on that movie.

He already grew out of the hollow handle theme in Rambo III when he used the Hibben Bowie. I agree with you - a Randall #1 or #14 would be an outstanding choice.

60 year old green beret or not, If you have been watching the contender, you know Sly looks to be in phenomenal shape. He has gotten in the ring several times to spar with the twentysomethings. Besides, I work with a retired Lt. Colonel and he is pushing 55....I would still put my money on him holding his own in any situation. ;)

60 year old Green Beret?Check out SHIVA KI!He was 60 when he won last State Tough Man Championship.RAMBO.Long in the tooth?I think not.Oh,yeah.By the way, check out his knives.

Nice knives and yes, he kicks ass at 60.
Still, the disclaimer on his site is hilarious for multiple reasons:

WARNING! These knives are not toys and could hurt or kill someone so to order one of these knives are highly dangerous. Every one a flesh eater.

:D

Remember that he's supposed to be "Joe Average" now, so how about a Spyderco Endura or Benchmade Griptilian.

If it has to be a fixed blade, then something like a Busse, Becker, Kabar or TOPs could do the trick. I don't think "Mr Average" would be running around with a custom worth too much $$$

I think they should go back to the original Lile knife. If you had been through that much **** with a knife would you really be trading it off every couple years for the "latest and greatest", thats your silent partner!
I agree.

A Rinaldi LEO or Warhawk would be my next choice. Simple, attractive, well-made, serious knives that are very "tactical" looking for all that, and would look good on the big screen, with their distinctive profiles, and sexy recurves.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, I would LOVE to see one of my blades on the big screen, BUT I would have to agree with using the Lile knife.
I mean Rambo was pretty at one with that blade, and its STILL a kick ass knife! Dont fix what aint broke. ;)

If ever there is Rambo 4, I think Rambo should be seen making a knife himself (in the movie, of course).
We should not ask any of the big names to be the knife maker. Give the assignment to one of the up and coming knifemakers, preferably an unknown. This way, nobody will know what to expect.
Break all the rules concerning the common notions of knife shapes. This is Rambo we are talking about.
Success, as they say, is anything that scores. I think Bruce Lee said that.
:D ;)

If they go ahead with Rambo IV, I believe Rambo should be equipped with a well worn Lyle survival knife. Experience counts and after 25 years the old knife should be irreplaceable part of his kit.
