Knife group for budget friendly knives

Why?
Why would you suggest going to another forum to discuss knives, rather than the forum entirely dedicated to knives??? o_O
This is a great forum which I love. The information to be had here is without parallel. There are some things said here which some disagree with to various degrees, and that's fine. Nothing at all wrong with leaving dead horses to be beat by others and hanging on more than one forum.

It is fine if op has other options for forums and they might cater more toward other interest with a little bit of the interest shared with here. If OP wants to learn about all things knife here is probably his best source. YouTube is a great source if you can find the gems in the mountain of misinformation.

Yeah nothing against Wally World it aint bad but the bay is full of counterfeits not that everything is but you need a sharp eye to spot them.

Well this poor boy gonna pass. I will stick to my Ebay and Wall Mart deals.
If you save the money you would normally spend on cheaper Walmart and questionable eBay knives, you could buy a more expensive, higher quality knife. Just a suggestion.

I've got 3.7 zillion knives, and it's rare for me to spend $100 on a knife, most were bought well under that price. I post a picture every Sunday in the Tradtional Sunday picture thread. I've never had anyone comment negatively about me or any of my knives, and I don't take any pains to post the best or most expensive knives. In fact, a few weeks ago I posted a picture of a beat-to-hell Russel that I think I paid $30 for.

I'm not here to change any minds or educate anyone, I'm just here to have fun.

It's the interweb. This place has a culture, and a new guy isn't going to change anything by complaining about what everyone else is doing. Hang around a bit and see what happens. If this place isn't a good fit for your sensibilities there's sure to be another forum that is a better fit.

The best part about being into budget knives is, you can have a huge collection of knives for the price of one high end one, and from all different companies. Variety is the spice of life you know?

Most of my knives are bought in the $30.00-$65.00CAN range. Only a select few are above that.

I'd rather save up and buy one that I really want. I've done it many times and now I have a nice jar of saffron instead of a huge pile of oregano.;)
There is nothing wrong with oregano, but it's nice to treat yourself to something less garden variety from time to time.

It's nice to have money left over to purchase a new custom kydex sheath, if you bought a budget fixed blade. And if you like carrying your folder's in a pouch, than you have to factor in the price of that also.

Edit: Custom scales may be something your into as well.

Or just do what I do and make your own kydex sheaths. Much cheaper in the long run.

and this is precisely how you end up with expensive knife money in a cheap knife

I have something like $170 in PM2 pimping stuff sitting on my desk waiting for me to just buy the PM2 so when it's all said and done I'll have $340 into a PM2 that as soon as it hits my possession will be worth $150 minus shipping.

If you're on a budget pocket sheaths and scales and such are the last thing you should be worried about and the best way to throw good money after bad.

I'm not saying this to be a jerk, but a $30 knife will do what a higher end knife will do. The only real difference is, you'll have to sharpen the cheaper knife more often. It may not look as pretty, open as smoothly, be as ergonomic as possible, but it gets the job done. And you won't cry every day for an entire year if you lose it somehow.

I agree.
There's nothing wrong with doing it if its for your own personal enjoyment, but beyond that, I really don't see the point.

Or when it starts to fall apart. Generally the knives outside the budget range are built to last a lot longer with everyday use as well. To me, its worth the extra money for a higher quality tool. There is a point of diminishing return, but staying somewhere in the middle works for me. I think a lot of it goes toward pride of ownership, which non knife knuts really don't care about, but the members here for the most part do.

It really won't in some cases, especially fixed blades. I've seen people do horrendous things to knives that would snap lower quality blades or make their edges unusable, but the higher quality knife handled it like a champ.
