Knife guessing game ( based on description ) now guessing fixed blades

My first impression is you're going for a Sowbelly of some kind.

- GT

Yep, sowbelly.

I couldn't come up with much for a particular model, so I went for a type.

But again, yep. Your up.

Sorry for the delay, I was dealing with a sick 1.5 year old.

Bah, sorry folks. I haven't had the time to
A: follow this thread from the beginning,
B: read each of the last 17 prior pages to check,
Also keep in mind,
C: if there are no repeats then this game can only run for so long til we either lose track, give up, or can't think of another puzzle.

I will Try to search the thread for my future puzzles.

Thanks, NJBillK. Dealing with a sick kid is a great excuse for delaying! ;) I wish I had as good an excuse, but all I can say is I went to bed before I heard whether I was correct, got busy with breakfast/dogs/church this morning, and honestly, simply forgot about the knife guessing thread until now! :(

OK, here's all I can come up with: my version of the knife is "discontinued", has concave backsprings, wharncliffe/pen carbon steel blades on same end of the frame, chestnut jigged bone covers, 3 3/16" long. Please tell me the maker and the model name.

Don't apologize for having a life. :D

Good advice, Rachel!

And you may have correctly solved the "description" in record time!!:cool: I have to work on obfuscating my descriptions; they're not very puzzling! :o

OK, what have you got for us??

I have a life, I swear it! :D I just happened to take a break from yardwork, read your puzzle with a SBJ sitting on the computer table in front of me. :) And as I've said, the clues I think are hard are easy, and the ones I think are easy turn out to be confusing.

Anyway:

This hard-working jack knife is considered a traditional pattern even though it has a liner lock. But the lock is not on the blade.

Case ... (brain freeze) ... SOD BUSTER!!!! That's it! a Sod Buster?
(could not think of name for a few there ... i must be old ...)

Nope, try again. It was originally made for military issue, though later for civilian use.

I guess there's nothing wrong with repeats, I guess if you have a specific knife in a repeat pattern that's fine too.
So just because a Barlow has been done doesn't mean ban old timer Barlow is off the table
It's kinda hard not to do repeat at this stage.

Oh dang, sorry I kept you all hanging, I forgot about this thread. :o
Here goes:
A knife so nice they named it twice. This strange knife has a scimitar shaped blade, no nail nick, simple all metal construction and strong juju. It's origins are French but it's name is not.

Alright. whether its pretty bone or red bone, you can certainly taste the feeling with this classic pattern!
