Knife Hobby/Interests are going to stop

Iv'e seen at least 3 people call me "troll" i honestly don't even know what that mean really so someone plz tell me lol

When someone calls another person a "troll" on a forum it is because some have got the impression you are intentionally creating topics to create controversy. Believe it or not but there are people out there who have no real interest in the subject of a forum that they join and their only interest in joining is to annoy and aggravate those who actively and passionately participate. You are very new and some of your questions and topics point to someone who really doesnt have an interest in knives, and little understanding of the hobby. Take for instance me. If I were to go on a ballet forum and posted topics such as "ballet is a dying art, am I right or am I right" and because those people joined obviously because they had the opposite view they will view it as being a "troll". Especially if paired with a low post count and a low understanding or passion for the hobby.

Here's a quick fix for this problem. Whenever you have a thought for a post or a thread topic, do the opposite. Problem solved.

op is an idiot.......knives are more popular today than ever before, almost everytime I'm in public I see a knife clipped to somebody else's pocket and I see a few people carrying fixed blades on their belt also.

In these first 4 months of 2015 I've seen 3 people carrying fixed blades on their belt, this was all in a 4 mile radius of the part of the city I live in.

What im asking is if the knife community is eventualy gonna die out

Have not been through the thread entirely, but your comment stood out. The interest will only die out if you let it die out. People have been interested in knives for a long long time. There are clearly different levels of interest and the my level of interest tends to meander a bit. But I always carry a knife when it is allowed and I always depend on having it with me. My knife gets used pretty much every day. The fact that I use a knife frequently spurrs my interest along. But you could be different. Having an interest does not necessarily mean you have to buy and own 50 different knives. My advice is to buy the highest quality of knife you can afford (within reason), but be practical.

The dinosaurs eventually died out, but they were on earth for a long time. I imagine the interest will out live you.

My question to you Butterboy is WHAT IS YOUR INTEREST IN KNIVES?

I don't know alot of people that collect knives and it is eventually gonna stop am i right or am i right?
Given your recent posts, you are quite the knife pessimist I must say. Granted I don't have any close friends who are knife nuts like me, clearly this forum proves there are tons of people out there that enjoy the hobby. Not something to worry about at all.

If you're not dead you're not done!!! [emoji51]

Love it!

Many people go through phases, it may die out for you, but a lot of people on here are not going to be able to not pick one up and use a knife in a single day. As long as there is a species like us on this planet, sharp edges are probably never going anywhere.

The knife community is not only not going to die out, it is becoming bigger and bigger as technology allows more impressive knives to be made, and more makers have access to machines that allow them to come to market with their new designs. I would wager that the market for knives now is a billion dollar industry, if you add the sales of all of the knife company is together.

Fine you know what i won't post here ever again because u people are mean

I actually dont think anyone was mean. I feel you dont think out thread topics really well before posting them and expecting praise for doing so and want to take your ball and go home because of it. When you do come back positioning your comments from that of a knife enthusiast rather than a skeptic of the hobby might have you fairing better in conversations with the lot of us.

Oh, my... I think I saw one personal comment directed at you in 53 posts, if you think this is mean, please don't go into Whine and Cheese or over to AR15.com... ~shudders at the bloodbath~

What you did was start a spirited, light-hearted discussion about an obsession we all share for sharp(ish) tools that has evolved into a history of the cutting tool. I do have to point out the 'knife' was probably the 3rd developed tool after the club (pick up stick) and the hammer (pick up rock)...:roll eyes:

Stick around, read a little and you may learn something useful, or not...
