Knife or Death

Kinda thought the point of an axe was to have a good amount of mass in the head.

A machete, on the other hand...

As for swords, granted, no one carries them around these days, but there's a reason rapiers, foils and epees came about. Against unarmored opponents, lighter and faster were a significant advantage. Easier to carry all day long, too.

you obviously have not seen Mecha Mecha 's Ti axe... it's a thing of beauty ...

I watched it. Long bendy swords are a bad idea. :D
A crappy tool is a crappy tool.

The chick's sword held up. Why she didn't bother to sharpen it is a whole different question. The short guy with the glasses in Season 1 (IIRC, he forged the sword himself and mentioned a molten salt heat treat?), showed just how much of an advantage a well-made long double edged blade provides.

The tall guy is an idiot. When he hands Travis the sword and Travis asks, "How long have you had it?" and he replies, "About as long as you have"... the word 'Moron' immediately came to mind.

Apparently, there are a lot of folks who've never heard the phrase, "Never take an untested weapon to battle".
