Knife Pet Peeves

I actually prefer a "sharpening" choil on just about any of my blades. (*folder or fixed)

However, a finger choil on a folder is like lipstick on a pig for me. 🤷‍♂️

A sharpening Choil should be called a recurve prevention upgrade

A choil to me is a snag point that takes away valuable edge from an otherwise useful area of blade.

A 3/16 recurve prevention upgrade is nice.

I have a few hangups, pet peeves that will prevent me from buying a knife.
One of my biggest gripes is tangs that stick out above the handle when closed.
Check out the pic of the Bugout below.
I really wanted to like the Bugout but will never buy one for this reason alone.
Illogical? Yep, I know. But I just can't do it regardless of how good the knife is otherwise.
What are some of your pet peeves that would prevent you from buying a knife?

I almost fainted at the sight of that exposed tang.

...A choil to me is a snag point that takes away useful edge on a very useful area of blade...

I watched a guy do some stabbing "tests" with a TOPS 107C "Delta Class" (*YouTube) the other day.

When he was retracting the blade, he was dead-set on the "fact" that the sawback was "grabbing" on the way out. Alas, the sawback was the least of his issues. It was the finger choil that "grabbing" and preventing a smooth pull-out.

1. False front finger choils that are about 80% of the size of my index finger(Snafu 2.0).

2. Pocket clips that are too tight and destroy pants and make you look at your situation every time when trying to get it out.

3. Knives over $400 that are NOT sharp from the makers.

4. Knives over $800 THAT ARE NOT SHARP FROM THE MAKER. Seriously, WTF???

5. No COA with expensive knives, Shamwari comes to mind. No big deal, $1,500 for a knife and I have to remember or make a note.

6. Any cheap China knives

7. Friends who think Kershaw is amazing , no longer friends

8. Lock bar death, some knives will NOT deploy or become extremely difficult with the slightest bit of lockbar tension

9. Recurve blade design, haven’t figured out how to sharpen and don’t want to.

I will say, most framelocks, linerlocks... Spyderco Cricket and the Gayle Bradley Advocate, Military or a fancy RAT, are the only ones I really carry.
M390 titanium framelocks, Medford, Strider, particularly peeve me. Regular recurves, China, The James Brand, and Hultafors, the fake Chinese Mora.
Obscenely mundane boring multi thousand knives like Tracker Dan, when a company copies a knife like the K55 Mercator, same steel and all, when the original is still made. I get reblades.

110%, Buck 119 choil is as small as I go, that or no choil.
3. Knives over $400 that are NOT sharp from the makers.

Heck, my Moras and Opinels have all been razor sharp. Victorinox and Buck have also gone above and beyond in customer service, so when these guys don't... no excuse

Maybe not a pet peeve but I am getting to the point where I don't even want a knife with a pocket clip anymore. I hate the holes left behind when I remove the clip.

Edit: I removed the part about FRN handle material. I recently bought a knife with FRN handle and to my surprise it was a much improved material. It was not the flimsy and flexible handle material I experience3 on an older knife I used to have.
I did think of a few other pet peeves; I really hate side-to-side blade play when a folder is locked open. It drives me crazy when the blade does not center when closed. I also hate verticals blade play in a folder when locked open.
