Knife recently stolen from checked baggage

I need some advice. While traveling from JFK airport to Europe last week , a Spyderco knife was stolen from one my checked bags. Not only was a knife stolen, but the combination of the TSA approved lock on the bag in question was changed. I was lucky because in my other checked bag I had a Leatherman Wave and was able to cut off the lock with pliers.

My question is, should I file a complaint with the TSA, or will I just be creating trouble for myself when I travel next year?

Any advice will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Uh, that's a POTENTIAL WEAPON WITH YOUR PRINTS ALL OVER IT. File a complaint with the highest TSA official at the airport, file a police report as well - and with the manager of the terminal.

Demand the knife back or full replacement of the knife, as well as a full investigation with the TSA highest ranking supervisor at the airport. Do not take NO for an answer - you were traveling with your gear checked as required and bottom line, they are responsible for the TSA-approved locks being compromised. Hell, would it surprise you to learn that maybe your lock was not changed at the combination level, but maybe the retard who stole your knife also was pilfering another bag with a visually identical lock?

Ask and ye shall be rewarded.

In the mean time, go buy another knife.
Do complain, though.
I lost two knives, an Emerson and a custom damascus slippy, on my trip to Blade, but not to TSA.
(TSA did manage to lose the lock on the other bag that wasn't swiped at Atlanta.)
Delta Airlines negligence caused my luggage to be stolen, so I lost all my clothes and lots of other stuff, too... A little less than $3k
Good thing I used FedEx to ship most of my knives.
Good luck on a positive outcome.

best of luck , from what I understand , TSA nor the airline ever made good when Ken Onion's knives were jacked from his luggage enroute to the Plaza show.
