so, the jk-ers around here are a pretty savvy bunch. what knife-related projects do you have going on?

i ask because i have a big list. John, remember that camp knife blank i got from you last spring? well, it's still in my project bucket! i have other knives that need handles. i have knives that need to be re-handled. i have knives that need sheaths, etc.

sharpening my girlfriend's kitchen knives has been on that same list for at least 6 months. last week, i finally took action. some may have seen the "Vermont bloodstone" (lol. that still gets me.) well, that's what i was doing.

she has the henckels eversharp knives. gosh, i can't stand the mini serrations. they smoosh food at best. i wanted to take those off and put on a nice clean, sharp edge. i started with her chef's knife.

before...

after (all i have is my iphone for a camera. really hard to get a closeup of edge. apparently, i lucked out with the above pic.) ...

i like to see what other folks are doing. gives me some inspiration/motivation. so, like i said, what you got going on?

I have two JK blanks (a Hiker III & a Mud Turtle XL) in my que, waiting for scales. I bought the materials, just haven't gotten around to it. Between work, raising two ACTIVE kids and building a house last year, I don't know why I haven't done it.

Well aside from having a pile of modding projects to get to, I have a lot of my own ideas that I'd like to work on. However, the customer always comes first.

I have a nice JK B&T blank that I picked up in the secret santa. I also have a JK tin knife that I was going to do something fun with. I bought one of those switchblade kits, but I haven't started it yet. Etc, etc.

was hoping you'd show up Glen! love seeing your work. hint, hint.... :D

I have the full flat ground Pocket Muk blank I need to put scales and liners on, and an older Kinfolks with a loose stacked leather handle that needs fixin'.
The PM is going to match my Tool and the Kinfolks is well, going to be a PITA, but it's in the queue.

As of this afternoon, I may be looking at coming up with a knife to fit my own design for John that will be my first JK knife.

Additionally, I have several blades in a box waiting for modifications. A tl-29 to be turned into a single blade with new scales, a camco caplifter jack that I want to put new scales on, a Frost muskrat with a bad blade that I will see about either modifying one of the clips or just removing it, an Old Hickory paring knife that I am currently working on modifying the blade from a clip to a drop point and will be looking at a new handle, and a box of knives that need sharpening.

I also have some Opinels to modify.
One is a #12 I was able to get shaped on the belt sander at work, just need to add some jigging and a finish.

Wasn't that you that did that beautiful stag PM handle?

recently made a couple sheaths for some spearheads and put micarta scales on an old, rusty machete.

i planned to do so much this weekend. i did nothing. :grumpy:

i do have a story (little teaser). so, i was at a buddy's house (friend of friend) for new year's day brunch get-together. i had just posted a sharpening video on facebook that someone was making fun of.... and, he's like, "Oh, you like knives. i wonder if you could fix an old knife for me."

he proceeded to take me out into his garage, and started looking through chests and bins mumbling, "now where would it be..."

he found it in some cool old wooden chest that he said his grandfather made. he pulled out a military issue bolo knife from WWI.

i was honored that he trust me with it. see, sometimes being a knife dork pays off.

i will try to get some pics up within the next year. :o :D

Bolo knife! Cool, take some pics, dang it!
