Knife Storage

I lucked out and grabbed a pelican caseoff the auction site a couple years ago. If I didn't have that, I'd use some sort of toolbox. There are ways to seal the "gaps" between the top and body.

I have this old Gerstner Tool chest (from the 40s) that I refinished

This is still a work in progress, I plan to frame it out and "conceal" the knives behind "something"...There are also at least 3 more knives on the wall now, and I have 8 on order....

Wow I thought I had a knife addiction. I'm just a baby.

They have to be locked up, once I got my ASH I thought , geeze I hope a bad guy does not get this when I'm sleeping and use it against me. I have a crappy locking case right now. Safe plans are in effect

My goal was to hide these in plain sight (make it look like a picture frame or something... but finding all the right pieces as been tricky...

How do you like that GT-2, Brev?

I love it, the gt2 is pure function, I have a gt1 on my hip right now. The ergos are stupid good. ...

It's in the pic right beside the tan handled trash1, that's right I said tan handled trash1.

So you figured out Lexi's favourite flowers! :)
I've been contemplating between getting something from Josiah or Ryan W but them Busses man.. No storage space for anything else at the moment.

Oh, to add something of value to the original OP; I store my folders, among other a swamp rat rat trap in maxpedition pouches, as the ones you mentioned. Kept old bayonets in steel scabbards without any rusting occuring. I am a bit hesitant with keeping coated blades in their sheaths, because it's so hard to check for rust, but that's probably meaningless worry.

Timber tool chest that I added sliced flats to that stabilise the blades..

This one has now overflowed to a a second that is also beyond full... I am checking out antique furniture places and second hand shops for an old chest of draws that is suitable to convert just for knives...if I was keeping them in the garage it would be a proper steel tool chest I think.

I have an old tool box but I've labeled "The Busse Box" with Sharpie. It's not pretty but it gets the job done. Will post pics at one point.

I'm currently hanging them off a modified corkboard display panel but once I get more I am thinking of getting a chest with a lock and hide the key in a carved out book. The burglars will have to go Sherlock to access it. :D

I store mine is some shotty container from the container store. the ones that dont fit sit on the floor next to it. Some of them are pretty nice. If you are really worried go with a pelican case. IF you start having thousand dollar knives, or you really dont wnat people touching them, them get a safe. Anything you do will be fine. I used to store them in thier boxes stacked up

hey dave whats with those lil sombreros? took few drinks to notice them in the pic. theres million reasons for them running through my head you make hats for your knifes or Spanish elfs help with kydex work?

Storing them in a sheath is not generally recommended.

My experience does not support the assertion above. I've stored some knives in leather sheaths, and others in kydex, for around 7 years without trouble. Conversely I've pulled some satin Busses out of the cardboard sleeve and found rust on the spine (twice). I freaked when I saw it both times - one was a 1 of 300 satin and linen tiger hide micarta SFNO.

I've also rusted an A2 knife overnight by putting it wet into a sheath. Probably would have rusted anyways even if I'd left it out.

I'd suggest you not put your knives away wet or dirty. Otherwise watch your humidity and consider something like Renaissance Wax for long term storage.

I have my most valuable knives in a safe, the rest are in a cabinet or lots and lots of drawers. My 1600 s.f. house doesn't have the space for the number of safes I'd need to store every Busse in "the safe".
