Knife that got you started/led you to bladeforums

Saw a starmate deal on massdrop. Remembered that they didn't ship outside the US. Bought it elsewhere. Then I googled "knife forums" and here we are :D

My Spyderco Sage 1 hooked me. I've since bought many more expensive knives but the Sage is still one of my favorites answer stays in my rotation.

I remember i was researching busses and ZT's around the same time, and bladeforums kept popping up on the search engine. Learned about alot of different brands here i wouldnt have thought to check out otherwise.

Busse.

If I remember correctly, it was stumbling on Busse. That search led me here.

Emerson CQC7. I remember doing research for a long time. Every time bladeforums coming up in the search. Every time I thought "no way am I going on there. That's a bunch of ninnies who are addicted to knives"...

See, I knew it, and STILL joined!

I had a spyderco harpy witch I lost, then a dragonfly witch I lost, I was young. Then I got a kershaw junk yard dog two cb, I used that knife 3 or 4 years and its still fine but I was making good money and wanted to upgrade. Did some google searching for best pocket knife and here I am.... I joined bfc around the time they released the zt 0560. I've documented how my collection has evolved in a thread in the gallery

Bought this in '08. my first 'real' knife that didn't originate from a gas station or as a cheap gift. I actually bought it at Walmart one day when we were picking up some fishing line and worms for a little day trip. Needed a knife for obvious reasons, and thought it looked cool. I had no idea what I was buying, or how good the quality was, but I knew for 60 bucks (I thought that was outrageous at the time) that thing 'better last forever'. Anyway, after carrying it for 7 or 8 years, I decided it was time to buy a new folder for EDC. I had picked up a Buck 110 but it just didn't suit me for EDC, and I wanted something a little smaller and more 'useable' for my daily tasks. That led me to the ever famed 'Internet search for the best pocket knife for EDC' and that ultimately led me here, as it so often does. What started out as needing a good quality folder, ended up being the beginning of several Sebenza purchases, a custom Steingass, PM2's, BK2, just to name a few. I owe almost all my knowledge of knives and steel to all you guys here on BF. So, thanks a bunch for all your information, your kindness, and for sharing all your wisdom! I'm very glad I found such a great place, with so many awesome people. This is my version of 'social media' (I hate FB and the like) and I love it.

Knife Steel led me here more any particular knife.

As I learned more about steels, and types, and would look up info on knife steels, I kept coming up with searches leading to threads on this site...

After a while, finally figured what the hell, I'll sign up.

I have loved knives since I was a little guy. I started collecting decent knives in the late 1990s, accumulating fairly slowly. Anyway, fast forward to January of 2012, I had just lost my job of 18 years, and had some time on my hands. In between sessions of job hunting, I was surfing for knife information, and found the forums. Now here I am with 30+ ZTs and 150+ Kershaws, plus various other brands. I have loved every minute of the journey.

Pretty awesome reading everyone's way of finding BFC.
