But the bears will be extinct before you could get one.Survive GSO 7/7. Nice and pointy.
I've shot several deer with a 10mm Auto. Shot placement is key, and I've had a couple DRT... The others didn't make it very far.I have heard this. In fact that apparently is the reason why Bear Spray is often considered more "effective" than firearms. Because it causes the bear to no longer attack you, as opposed to trying to stop it as it continues to attack you.
I took a deer with a 357mag once. Must have spent an hour following the blood trail. I can easily imagine hitting a charging bear and still gettting eaten.

The only problem being (besides the fact the motorcycle riding bear will feed it to you) is that you will reach for it to ward off that ursine cyclist and suddenly remember that you don't have it because it was promised for delivery by next Christmas... Lol we think alike. I'd suggest however that if you are using it for bear defense YOU would be extinct before it arrives. But the bears will be extinct before you could get one.![]()
For around here , Midwest USA , Black Bears "only" : Yeah , with the right spear , big chopper , machete or kukri .
Plus much skill and luck . Might have some chance .
Against a serious charge , you'd probably only have time for a few quick strikes .
It's funny you mention this- we've had a few custom enquiries where defending against a bear has been a key consideration. We were speaking with a groundskeeper at a rural russian university who fought off a bear previously with a brush clearing blade he carried for work. He was looking for something longer and with a bit more severity at the tip- makes sense to me.If you gotta square up with a bear up, one of the larger offerings from Kailash ain't a bad choice. I don't want to fight a bear with my Knout, but I really don't want to fight one without it.
