Knife to carry when on a date

You should get you a lil' old slipjoint for first dates, job interviews and the like, even if they aren't your cup of tea. You can get a little Rough Rider for about 5$ and it would expand your area of carry.

And realistically, after a while together it wouldn't be an issue for most girls even if you liked scary tacticals. She would just see it as "stupid guy stuff" maybe. How would you like it if she took boxes of shoes on a first date and was trying them on. After not long at all you wouldn't care much if she loved shoes.

Leave the knife home, bring other protection....;)

This and don't ask her to come back to see your knife collection . at lest wait till the fourth date as she mite think your a little creepy :D

Man, sorry to all you guys whose girls aren't knife tolerant. My advice is would be bring what you wanna bring. Don't make an issue of it or tell her youre a knife nut. If it does come up explain how its useful. Once she gets to know you, you can then titrate in your knife obsession over time. A month or so you might be laughing with her like, "yup, I even went on a knife forum and asked for advice on what knife to carry on our first date!"

Good luck!

Definitely at least two of these, haha:

I'm thinking one of those Gil Hibben fantasy knives might get her going. Make sure it has at least one dragon built in to the guard and several sharp and difficult to maneuver secondary blades/striking points for good measure. Women LOVE lots of sharp edges and unexpected jerky motions. Maybe chase some guys with small insignificant knives around to display your reproductive superiority.

Maybe like this! http://d1oig1atgy3as2.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/678-Alien2.jpg

Seriously though, I'd just have a small folder in the pocket. I honestly think most women just don't like a bunch of crap clipped to you or your pockets chock full of unsightly shapes. What girl wants to cuddle up at a movie with a multi tool digging into her hip?

In all seriousness, I would pick and carry your favorite EDC, and simply not whip it out obnoxiously if you need to use it. Though, for future use, it certainly wouldn't hurt to select something in the range of a gentleman's folder that suits your tastes. I find a Kershaw Leek or CRKT Eros serves nicely in this role.

Carry what you would normally carry when you go to the types of places you two will be going.

Be yourself, and you won't have to change later to show her the real you.
I don't believe in acting/dressing/etc... one way on the first few dates only to change after the first few dates.
If she doesn't like the type of knife you carry on the first date she won't like it any better on the 50th.

The chances of you whipping it out are very slim anyway. Same goes for the knife:p

What I used to do when going out on first date is, don't make big plans, just say let's go out for some coffee. Then you can feel her up, I mean out, see if things are clicking. If they are not, be on your merry way. Bail.

If things are clicking, keep the night going, dinner, movie, walk around. You'll know fairly quickly how things are going.

I've found that if they can't accept something you really enjoy, it's best to not get involved with them. I usually feel the ladies out (not up :P) before I'm comfortable with letting them in on my "psychoness" though. I've been lucky to date mostly cool girls so I haven't really had an issue!
As for your choices, I'd go Gayle Bradley...super nice looking knife

Carry whatever you think she will like the least, and use it at least once. You have to thin your options down to the ones who will accept you for who you are, which is a nut job who posts on bladeforums about what knife to bring on a date. Prepare her for that now, and save yourself the trouble you'd inevitably have later.

Outstanding. If we could "like" posts...

On topic: You say you don't have a SAK, I'd get one. Not for this date specifically, but it'll last you forever and cost you like 20 bones.

If I was going on a date, the last thing I would be thinking about is what knife to carry. Shine your shoes, check your breath, and stand tall.:D

LMAO. I'd carry spyderco manix 2 lightweight.

I might get an infraction for this but i just have to say it.

THE ONLY KNIFE YOU SHOULD BRING IS THE BIG KNIFE THAT'S IN YOUR PANTS. AND WHEN THE DATE GOES WELL WHICH TRANSLATES TO "IN AN EVENT THAT YOU HAVE TO USE IT" MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CONDOMS WITH YOU SO YOU CAN PROTECT THAT KNIFE FROM A PATINA OR RUST.

Sad but true - girls and knives don't mix. There are exceptions but they are rare.
Maybe there should be a knife lovers dating site.
"Your Emerson makes me hot." or "Hey is that a Buck 110 in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

More like a buck 112. Ohhhhh! SNAP!
