Knife you're embarrased to own or admit purchasing?

The Ernest Emerson Complete Combat Karambit training dvds and the knife he recommended. Either I'm not very talented or it's hard to learn martial arts from a DVD. Probably some of both. The knife was okay but I sold it all together because who would want the dvds and no knife? I was lucky it made it here through customs, here the legality of such knives is often in dispute.

way back when, before I knew about BladeForums, I bid on and won a half dozen Full Custom knives on the 'bay... I really liked the design, and surprisingly no one else bid on them...

after joining BladeForums, I did a little research and found out that I now had a collection of knives from a maker that was persona-non-grata in the knife community...

I still have them, I am pretty much stuck with them... the maker... Brad Duncan...

I got back to late to handle this with a simple edit...
This Thing was given to me over 55 years ago by my Grampa.
I hated to tell him that I would get caught dead with it strapped to hip.
Gentlemen; may I present to you, "Knife-Zilla"!
That was my grail knife, back about 50 years ago.

Do you like the knives?
Is there anything about them that is... substandard?

Everything about that knife is sub-standard, but when you’re a little kid you don’t notice those things. Besides it is was easily the first multiblade that I ever encountered.

I just looked him up, and found 11 pages worth of a dumpster fire on him...

Bought a Factor Large Carbon Iconic 4 years ago upon entering the hobby! Was excited as it was my first "quality" blade I purchased. Realized after watching a few videos it was a stolen design from GM. 😳
I have one of those too, design theft aside it's a pretty good knife, could be a bit thinner ground but it is ultimately an inspired-by so I'm just happy the build quality and maker are ok. They did sort things out as far as I recall, though Tuya probably didn't like that process much

Many companies. Buck, off the top of my head, has their Forever Warranty. But literally any lifetime warranty, which is pretty industry standard, covers it for the lifetime of the product.
...... ESEE and all the Busse family brands are another couple, you don't need to be the original receipted owner either as I recall. Lots of companies offer such a warranty, it is how they go about honouring it that matters as well.

As to knives I am embarrassed about, there was some super cool dagger thing I got from the local sports store when I was about 16, talk about buyer's regret, even as a tennager I hated that thing from about an hour after I purchased it, thankfully a neighbour thought it was the eighth wonder of the cool kid world and I sold it to him (at a $2 profit) that same night....went right back to the same shop the next morning and ponied up the extra dollars for the Gerber Guardian that was there as well (still have that one now ;) ).

Yeah... I was on this site and decided to do a search to see what else this maker had to offer (besides what was being auctioned off...) and I found those eleven pages as well... I will never get out of them what I paid for them... they are very nice, excellent workmanship, but so many people were screwed out of pre-order money... I asked the guy I bought them from if they were owed to someone else, he said no... he had them for a while...

So a Brad Duncan custom is not a good investment...

funny thing... about the same time I bought the Duncan knives, I bought a half dozen Striders... THOSE sold well! I found out about the stolen-honor and sold them for what I paid and they each sold in less than a day...

I'm sure they'd still be a knife for field dressing a deer...
Own it, and enjoy putting it to good use.

This. I bought one as a teenager and for some reason just loved the junk. Over the years, it disappeared. I bought another. Still junk. Still cool to my teenager stuck inside lol

Not gonna lie, I actually kinda like how that looks. Not that I have any use for a dagger like that. Did you regret it because it was poorly made?

I'm not really ashamed of any knives I've had or have.
I've had some bad ones that broke or fell apart. Don't remember much about them.
I knew they were garbage when I held them.

I am not ashamed of any knife that I have purchased or sold. But, I am concerned about the level of energy that I have invested in the hobby. But, how that pans out will only be determined on my deathbed and until then I intend to make the most of it.

I never said I regretted it. 😂. I wouldn’t call it poorly made. Just not what I normally buy, I guess. Not even sure what steel it is. I guess, to be honest, it’s not poorly made, just not good steel. Some parts appear to be chrome plated unknown steel. Maybe not complete junk. Fun to play with lol

I bought two mallninja knives from Cabelas when I was first getting into knives. One was a S&W and the other a Schrade. Both spring assisted with awful liner locks. I'm not proud of it but it happened so no use in hiding it.
