Knifecenter.com and the SAK Tinkerer

The tinker is my favorite SAK pattern! I have found the Steel on the SAK knives to be easy to sharpen and hold an edge for a good amount of time. They are well made and nicely priced blades! Now if they only offered the tinker in Alox...

Yeah, that's the one!:thumb up:

Just love how he expects it to stop cutting, but it keeps on keeping on. On paper the SAK steel is second rate, but in the real world it works pretty darn good. Kind of like bumble bee's not supposed to be able to fly. :)

I got a kick out of that video the first time I saw it.
I had a SAK that was the only knife I carried/used for at least a year (my sister has it now), cut lots of cardboard with it and now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I never sharpened that thing because that was before I found this place. So it really shouldn't have continued cutting all that time, but it did. It was probably what I would now consider pretty dull, but I didn't know better and it still worked, so... :)

My favourite cellidor scaled SAKs are the Vic Tinker and Compact*:

Wish the Compact had an awl instead of the parcel hook, but the scissors are nice.

*The little Vic Rambler on my keychain is still king for EDC, though. :)
