Good late afternoon.
DF- Would you like a piece of older Westinghouse Micarta? It's a rust-red color? 3/8ths thick.

Sup,fella's? Ya' know,it is amazing how un-flat things that look perfectly flat actually are. Back to sanding.

Evening all. My copper and steel shipped today. I might have some sketches to post up later.

Yeah I was thinkin' the same thing. So quiet, It feels like he's about to post MOAR PICS :O

Daniel is in the beast mode!:D

Can't wait to see what's coming out of the DFK shop! Have a good one guys.

He knows I have a lustin' for his fighter. I wanna go campin' soon, but not without my first DFK D:

Morning fellas!

I feel like I just woke up after 2 days of partying, that dazed, unbalanced, semi-confused state where you wander around the house in your underwear. I guess the medicine has a warning label for a reason. Holy smokes! I do not remember actually falling asleep, don't remember what I was doing, don't even remember hearing my alarm this morning.

Anyways, gotta get some coffee, get my head back straight and go do something today.

D- go make something stabby and pointy.

I think he's been at the grind since yesterday morning. Never came home. There must be something pointy in the works :O

You know that mode of operation you get into sometimes, where it doesn't feel like work anymore and you just keep going and going until you're done? He's probably in that zone.

I like the calm before the storm...then BAM!

DOUBLE-GROUND WHARNIEPOON FRAMELOCK!

...one can dream.

You guys are right. There is always a calm before the storm with Daniel. I predict some awesome in a day or 3.
I think the weather here is as perfect as it gets. Time for a bike ride!

Grrr, so frustrated this morning...

Ended up wasting my time this morning tearing apart a lens to clean some fungus off the inner elements. Now I'm stuck trying to re-index the focusing helicoid. I'm normally good about doing such things, lots of patients, but today my nerves are just at their end. Back to researching...

Anyone want a manual focus Sigma 28 f/2.8 mini-wide, very clean, no scratches or haze, but its in pieces, lol!

Yikes. That looks complicated D:

Xander my wife wants a good camera, something to upgrade her from her old film camera. What should I look for?

Farchyld - I can throw my $.02 in the ring re: camera. But a few questions.

1. Does she want the be able to use interchangeable lenses.
2. If so, does she have older lenses she wants to be able to use on the new system (if so, what kind are the old lenses).
3. Are there any preferences regarding size? (pocket/purse size? vs. compact with changeable lenses vs. full size camera)
4. Are there budget constraints?
5. Any extenuating photography needs (e.g. bird/wildlife or sports photography, which would need specialized equipment to do right).

Xander - been there, rarely fun, but you'll get it. Worst case scenario, at least it was only a sigma. ;)

^^ yeah, answer yourself those questions first, then we can start with recommendations. Hell, I almost bought a Nikon D5100 kit today, the wife was out and stopped by Target, they had the kit for 50% off! $329 with the 18-55 lens! None of my lenses would fully work on it, but hey, I like shooting manual too.

Yeah, that lens is back in its case, partially assembled now. Once I finally got the aperture ring re-indexed and properly set I gave up. Turns out that there are thee aperture scales on the ring, I guess for different makes of cameras. There were also three cams on the ring inside, I could index to any of them, but only one works for Nikon. I may just got buy another one of these lenses for cheap. I really like the color rendition and softness of it, the CA isn't terible (I've had much more expensive lenses with worse) and its a metal body.

On the hunt for a reasonably fast, wide angle lens now. Something from 20-35mm.

Nikon F mount, manual focus is fine but needs to be Ai (can get it converted if its a nice lens for the right price). Unless you got something sitting around in Leica R or M mount :D

I'm going to leave the lens be, maybe I'll go shake the case every now and again in hopes of things just falling into place on their own, lol! I'll return to it sooner or later. I don't use it that often, I have a 28-105 f/2.8 that's pretty decent.
