Hey guys!
Lots to say... just in from a long day of... brewing! I was in the shop until late yesterday and took the day off. Pics soon! I need my camera back...
Beer - some sort of strong ale I suppose, it has been a while since I knew my beer recipes. I just finished it up, all grain brewing is a serious day... takes about 8 hours to make a batch.
Grain Bill
10# Barley... ground mysellf by hand! Rahr brand, 2 row I think
1# Victory Malt - for a bready flavor
1# 90* for a dark carmelized flavor
tons of hops! cleaning out the freezer
Simcoe, Chinook, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo.. 6 oz total and added evenly throughout the boil 60 minute IPA style..
US 05 Yeast for a clean beer
1# Corn Sugar for more alcohol and a cleaner beer... will be 8%+ or so
It was my first ever "all grain" 5 gallon batch! I have brewed tons of homebrew but never from grinding the barley on up... I usually used malt extract. This is exciting!
Big week in the shop too... 9 knives are very close!
BigCountry smoke sent and good to see you!
Nice boats...
Gooeytek that is crazy fast, wow! Anything under 14 seconds is blazing. I really can't imagine!
Grinding Dust - take to dump, put out with trash (if legal, etc) as they are capable of handling it.... if you are ambitious save and take to your local scrap metal buyer, they usually accept anything over 80% steel by weight, my buddy scrapped a whole school bus including tires, engine hoses, etc. Direct recycling!
You'll get maybe 5 cents a pound but it is cool to recycle. I wouldn't toss it in my yard personally...
