Liamstrain, I'm excited about those kitchen knife racks. Mine will be just the wood visible with magnets hidden in the reverse. I decided to make one because I need one too, gotta keep those kitchen knives scary sharp!

Let me know if those are going to get put in your store... I wouldn't mind at all replacing this piece of junk I have.

Afternoon all,

I work nights and morning for me, is really afternoon for some/most of you. Just checking in...hoping to see some DFK 5160 kiridashi's soon ;)

I wish I could relate to you guys a bit more, but I know nothing about cameras ;)

Hey guys!

Thanks Lycosa! Very cool! much appreciated...

I'll let you guys know when those racks go up for sale, they are likely a couple of weeks off. I have a lot that is close!

Tdhurl1103 good to see you here! The 'dashis have officially been started an I hope to have some finished in about two weeks.

Not a lot of posting here by me but that is going to change... I want to post my progress closer to my completion times as I take so long to make knives, lol!

Woo! We know when you're quiet, you're workin' hard!

Spent a few hours in the basement doing more work. Most of the table plywood is cut and mounted. Running out of screws! I swear i put 200 into the table so far hahaha. Hopefully this Saturday will finish the electical update and tables/walls. Can finally mount my drill grinder and band saw :)

Hope everyone's having a lovely night!

Farchyld, That bench sounds like it is super solid.
Daniel, the racks sound sweet! can wait to see them.
Tdhurl1103,You are not alone , I know pretty much nothing about cameras. Daniel makes a mean 'Dashi! When they drop don't hesitate, they go quick!
And a big howdy to the rest of ya.

Evening y'all.

Irritated, went to grab my Nikon F100 today, slap a lens on, load some fresh batteries, turn it on nd run a quick test of AF and metering before loading film when it goes "clunk" then all displays flash "err." Ugh, to repair or replace...I love this camera, but just don't know what to do.

No knife news to report.

Night y'all!

What lens? Have you tried mounting a different one?

I seem to recall this being a flaw with the f100 - and it would just happen from rare time to time. There is some way to clear it. I think it's even in the manual.

edit: ayup - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/42036.pdf, page 101. Release shutter again.

Depending on what the repair would be (e.g. more than $200) would be the call... more than that, replace.

Tried it first with a AF Nikkor 50 f/1.8D then with a AF Nikkor 70-300 ED. Film chamber was empty, so no DX code to read. Repeated shutter release and "err" kept popping up. Looked up the code and the one we all hate to see err flashing on LCD, err flashing in VF; Malfunction detected; send to Nikon for repair

I'm gonna go over it again tomorrow. Ran out of time before work today. There is one listed locally on CL with less than 20 rolls through it, but like cars, these things need to be used some to be kept in tip-top shape.

I'm dreading the call to Nikon....good equipment ain't cheap to fix. Maybe I'll sell it to KEH for partial payment on another one.

Xander I hope it gets going somehow!

Farchyld, sounds cool! I hear you on the screws, they usually cost me almost as much as the wood... I have gone through 10 pounds plus in the last few years. The torx/star ones rock. Good to see the shop coming together! I really need to send you some ht'd knives, I keep wanting to finish the D2. We have guests over and it has been tough to get the dry ice... really want to crank up the kiln!

FBC Thanks and I hope you are doing great! How are the knives going?

Good morning Lycosa and thanks again! I really appreciate you thinking of me.

liamstrain good morning!

I'll get some pics of these fretboard blanks I have for the magnetic racks... I even have the real Aniline dye to use on the maple, you guys know the look... classy antique style... The maple will be nuts!

Heh, I had no expectations of rush jobs when I asked you initially, so no complaints. I hope all is going well dude!

Good morning guys!

Busy day ahead, mail day and more. I'm on route to finish 14 knives this week!

Kitchen knife coming up if I get good pics! It is one of my very best, my best handle yet I think! Bolsters
