I know comparing the ZT0470 and SBD Mini Tempest is pretty laughable in terms of price and quality but I'm just here for the "day and night" look of the ZT vs. the blacked out SBD. On paper, and even just visually, they have some similarities: M390/20CV, CF inlay, bearings, Ti scales, similar size, both sort of "dressy for a big knife" or "big for a dressy knife". Their on-paper contrasts are also interesting: "normal" vs front flipper, blacked out vs normal finish, non-US design and US construction vs US design and non-US construction, and I guess it's technically steel bearings vs ceramic (though I called bearings a similarity earlier). The SBD definitely has the "next level" meticulousness that warrants its price premium over the ZT (which has its own level of effort that elevates it above knives cheaper than it in some respects). Anyway, I didn't think I'd get this philosophical about these two knives and there's no sense in my carrying them both at the same time, though I may just do that for the sheer poetic value (but all this is written as I'm at peak jittery from drinking the coffee pictured).
