Knives and skulls

Well, you could always just not read it or comment in it. Or just wait for threads that do not differ with your opinion...I'm sure those wont be an issue and you won't have to "humor" the silly people who open them! :D

As far as the skulls thing? I think its stupid. Silly. Chairborne types flicking their skull knives while sitting on the couch watching The Bachelor.

And worse than the "punisher" skulls are the ones where the skull is exhibiting "rebellious" behavior! "Ohhh! Im a skull wearing a baseball cap backwards and chewing on a cigar! I dont follow the man's rules!"

Silly.

Of course, that said, people seem to like them, and buy them, and good for those people.

And talking about features of knives is exactly what this forum does. Heck, there is a thread current where people are falling all over themselves talking about a new ZT....what's new about it? The screws are green now. Didn't see WW complaining about that one! :D

Well, to be fair, I didn't really present an opinion about the adornment to begin with so I don't really get where you're going telling me to wait for a thread to come up that has similar opinions to mine... I simply stated facts about the symbolism of skulls.

But in terms of what you're saying about skulls on stuff, I 100% agree with you. They seem pretty silly. Pretty lame.

And yes, talking about knife features is what this forum is about. Which is exactly what I said in my original post. And I actually did complain about the ZT you're referring to. I specifically said, "Really milking this design. I think the green doesn't do this one any favors. Just my opinion."

Nope, I don't agree. I like skulls. Always have and always will. I do think there is a distinct rift between those who have honestly always had a love for such imagery and those who jumped on the bandwagon and now are jumping back off. But that is just how trendy people are. They are quick to hop on a fad and then just as quick will turn on it depending on what they think is cool at that moment. Either way I don't think enough knives are made with skulls to have it be much of a concern to anyone. Its simply another option of which I am all for. I think what is more childish is to pretend that "taste" is anything more than personal opinion. And when people want to criticize the taste of others from a position of assumed superiority I find it equally childish.

I'm not really a fan of skulls on anything however to me the punisher is the least offensive, given that it is a symbol used by military personnel.

I have ways wondered if Marvel gets some sort of licensing arrangement with the military units displaying their creation.

Well if you are going to drag facts into this, its gonna be no fun at all! But, technically you complained about the design, not the fact that is was being discussed at all.

I didn't like the green either. :D Great minds think alike.

Skulls are quite cheesy, but who cares, to each their own. Personally, I want more knives to have the "shark face" as an option:

Looks like this fad started in about 1759 and then really got some legs.

Bets on when it starts winding down?

+10:thumbup::D I like it!

PS I was just looking at my BM-710 SE and how profile reminds me of shark and now you post this, spacibo!

I like your blade except for silly finger choil on blade:thumbdn:

I don't really understand why modern, first world military people resort to death imagery for symbols. It is a tad played out.

I view skull logos as very unprofessional. They seem like a guy who covers himself in tattoos to look tougher. It is phony lol.

Hey, sometimes it just makes the knife even more hilarious and adorable.

Boker Gnome (excuse the crap lighting; I'm at work.)

Adorable is right, the Gnome is downright cute. How much more do you like the knife with a lanyard as opposed to without? A lot I'm guessing, since you've got one on?

Personally I won't begrudge others for liking that kind of thing, but I'm usually not a huge fan of it as we commonly see it in TAC-FORCE type of knives.

Skull is visual blaze almost cartoonish for me. I'd like to put something on my lanyard. I spent some time on ebay, only freaking skulls... I was hoping to find some Kelts or Vikings symbols, no... if you have lanyard it has to be stupid skull.

I like skulls in general. Especially on my knives. I just dig that kind of thing. I'm also a fan of superheroes , Jedi and hobbits.

I never get this line of thinking?!

If you like skulls and you like knives, and like skulls on your knives, then who am I to say it's wrong/outta style/bad taste/etc?

There is nothing on this planet that you can't find a group of people to dislike, so what does that tell you?!.........

You could pull gold and diamond encrusted unicorn knives out of your a$$ and give them away for free, and still there will be people who will complain about it...

No doubt. I would be like "couldn't you have done a skull instead of unicorns?"

I agree there is a dearth of subject matter out there where beads or lanyard foibles are concerned. I keep thinking there is a website somewhere offering all kinds of alternatives, but so far I haven't found it---many nice things out there but the hole sizes are more for thread and string, with no consideration being given leather or paracord.

I even started a thread here last week to see what kind of other items people are flashing their fobs/lanyards with. Apparently there isn't much else out there.
