Photos Knives and tea, pix thread

Happy Tuesday - and Happy New Year. I don’t think I’ve posted here since then.

I have my fresh new desk blotter calendar for the year with no tea stains yet! LOL! Even better is my new 2018 Forum Buck 301 that I traded for. The elk is gorgeous on this knife! It’s kicked the Micarta 301 Sep 2021 BOTM out of my pocket as a daily driver.

Happy Monday! My tea tastes better this morning, for some reason. The sun shines a little brighter on the City of Brotherly Love.

E - A - G - L - E - S EAGLES!

PS: the mug is 30 years old this year! Bought at a 7-11 during the 1995 football season. It’s been halfway around the world with me.

PPS: I made it halfway through February before getting tea stains on this year’s desk calendar. LOL! The stain soaked through to May.

As a Chiefs fan, Congratulations. That was one fine ass whuppin' your boys gave ours.

An evening cup of tea and my current read by the wood stove on a snowy evening, with a Buck Paradigm Shift and my Redmeadow Cowbell.

And a play table in desperate need of refinishing. I built this table for the kids 16 years ago. It’s earned every scratch and I can’t bring myself to refinish it.

Happy Snow-Day Wednesday!

I’ve had this Buck Collectors’ Club 112 for a month or so and have been yearning to make it a user, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it, it’s so gorgeous. So this morning I took a deep breath, put the USA-made sheath on my belt, and snapped the knife in. And then the first thing I did while wearing it and waiting for the tea kettle to whistle was jump on the BCCI site and order another to hold back in the collection. LOL!

What an amazing knife! Brass, Koa wood, I already mentioned the USA-made sheath (despite the add saying it’s imported), AND - get this - a 440C blade in the original 112 profile! I grew up in the days of 425Mod and never had a Buck in 440C, but now I do. That’s one of the reasons I have been wanting to make it a user. To cut stuff with it, and feel that old-school, fine-grained, non-Vanadium carbide steel on an old Arkansas stone.

I’m firmly in the #TeamRivet camp, but even I can’t complain that they’re missing on this knife. I do need to watch for the brown sheaths to come back in stock, though. :)

Happy Wednesday!

I grew up in the era of 425Mod and that transitioned into the 420HC epoch. But I am LOVING this 440C! The combination of this old steel and Buck’s modern hollow grind geometry is amazing. This is not hard to sharpen, takes a razor edge, and holds it great.

Buck used a different hollow grind geometry back when 440C was younger, and it was thicker behind the edge. This new combination is a winner, for sure.

The scratch cranberry and dark chocolate scone is compliments of my 14 year old, and complements the English Breakfast Tea perfectly.

Happy Thursday!

Trying a new tea today - a friend gave me a tin of Harney & Sons Earl Grey Supreme. It’s a blend of black tea, oolong, bergamot, and white tea. I don’t drink enough Earl Grey to know how this brand compares or differs, but it’s really good. Do other brands of Earl Grey have white tea in the blend?

I did a little reading, and no, Earl Grey blends do not have white tea in them - that’s what makes this one “Supreme.”

I learned a ton about tea today from this site. Interesting stuff!

I guess the orange rapist could not end the war on the first day he got elected after all like he said.
Good luck with turning to Russian puppet state comrade!
