Happy Friday!

This Titanium version of the Buck 110, named the 560, was made in 1989 - the same year the USS WASP, LHD-1, was commissioned. In 2002, that ship took me and my friends halfway around the world and back.

Happy Rainy Saturday!

So far my Buck Range Pro with the transplanted Magnacut blade from the used Range Elite I picked up on the Exchange has cut cardboard to fit under the cat’s bowl in the garage, opened a couple little watch batteries, and harvested buttons off a worn out shirt to put in the girls’ button jar for crafts. Later this morning we’re decorating for Christmas! What are y’all up to today?

Happy rainy Tuesday, first day back from Thanksgiving break when you sleep through your alarm, leave your breakfast & lunch on the counter at home, and scrounge Combos at the office. But, at least there is tea!

A conversation over in the Buck forum prompted me to pull these four together: my first four real knives after a no-name SAK (from K-mart, I believe) that proved to my dad that I could take care of things. The 503 is my first Buck from my dad. The 110 and Leatherman from grandpa, and the 549 Fishlocker was the first knife I ever bought myself.

A lot of knives have come and gone over the years, but reflecting with a cup of green tea with honey and lemon by the fire this evening, I have to wonder: have I run across anything in life thus far that couldn’t have been tackled by these four, alone?

Happy Wednesday!

I first learned of Bit-O-Honey as a kid when they were putting full-size bars in boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios. Those things were hard as D2 steel! And I loved them. I hadn’t had them in years until a guy at work started stocking the candy dish with them occasionally a couple of months ago. They’ll still pull a filling out, and I still love them.
