Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

The books do the job for me and introduce far more people
to the things I love than do myself!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

In addition to your first four knife books, I also have both Plants and Animals of the Bible. Good stuff! :)

My main hobby is traditional archery and bow building. Actually, I started building knives ( I buy the blades already made, eeeekkk!) as a way to get rid of some small scraps of exotic hardwood I had leftover from building bows. I've currently started my first stock removal. I can tell you it compares to shaping the tips on a bow. It's very slow and tedious but it can make or break the project. Not only that, you have to do it twice! Anyway, here are a few pics of the last r/d longbow I made. I has kingwood and ebony in the riser as well as bighorn sheephorn for accents.

Beautiful wood and beautifully put together to make a bow!
Lets see how these exotic woods work on a knife handle?

all the best,

Thanks, David. Here are a few of my favorites.

MBAKER great looking bow and the knife is very nice also. I to am into stick bows mostly recures but I have a old Monarch long bow that is very nice .. Great stuff thanks for posting

Nice idea, sandwiching exotic woods for the handles
of your knives!

All the best,

yeah! Another knife making mountain biker!

You already hurt Bill's feeling...... :D

Here's a picture of a picture from the good old days. I went on a year long camping and hunting trip in some far off land. With all the guns around it felt like the Wild Wild West. I'm out sunning myself on a OP. After looking at this old photo not sure which direction the bad guys would be coming from. :D

Thanks for posting this i am a huge history buff and I am really getting interested in Vietnam especially the regular soldiers stories

Mbaker and Magnus - nice looking bows. I haven't shot in many years now and looking at those bows has got me thinking about it.

I have a couple of recurve stick bows and a couple of older compound bows. Being left handed there were always less choices than right hand models.

Knives aside, my only other real driving interest is collecting art - abstract expressionist art of the 1940s through 1980s, specifically. I think it was this early appreciation of art that causes me to enjoy the art of knives as much as I do.

Thanks, David. Here are a few of my favorites.

Who said that "leftovers" can't be tasty?:D

Some very nice Bows' posted.

I built re-curves and long bows for a couple years in the
early 90s' and almost quit making knives. One year I built as many bows as knives.
But my loves of knives won out :) Still like the traditional bow stuff though.....

Magnus, I shouldn't be surprised to see something like this considering the knife/sheath rigs you've posted in the past, but this is absolutely stunning.
