Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

40 years! That's actually pretty cool, David.

Lorien,

Not being a youngster like yourself, I had the 40 years with
a lot to spare...

Shall hit 66 on January 10th 2009..... and I can't really understand
how time flew past so rapidly!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Wow, for about 10 years' worth of summers I went surf fishing in North Carolina and the only thing I ever did was lose bait to various crustaceans.

A burden for you, but was it for your daughter? *grin* Law school, on the other hand... No, thank you.

Seriously, though, I'm on the self-financing plan, so no-one is burdened but me.

Just kidding Alex, the girls work very hard and we are glad to be able to help them.
But good for you as getting through grad school and especially at your own expense is certainly something to be proud of.

What a great thread. Some cool stuff between JPs exploits and Severeds "collecting". I can see STeven in the woods now with the antler hat on.LOL

KJ, I hope Crowllel makes your daughter a knife! Too funny in the world of Strider and Emerson tats.

She's actually very fond of one of my Senderos. I guess the Crowell shooting star looks better than "Fisk MS" tattoo on her belly. ;):D

When I lived in NJ I was into saltwater fishing and had boats for over 20 years. I can almost smell the salt air looking at JP's, Ebb's and Joe's pictures.

I try to get out for deer season every year. My hunting highlight was with an Alaskan Grizzly I took in spring 2007:

I Work as a librarian one day a week (probably counts as a hobbby) and make knives very rarely these days. I'll post a few knife related pics because I've spent more time at it than any other interest.

Mike,
Are you sure that you spent more time making knives?
It seems from the pictures like the little spare time you have left with all your
other activities is "sometimes" spent with your hobby - knifemaking..... :)

It would be nice to see your knives!

All the best,

Well I am one of the old timers here also, Raised two wonderful kids and am now into raising four grandkids. My hobbies have shifted over the years from a life time of hunting, fishing and guiding throughout British Columbia in my youth, to a more relaxed wood carving, leather work, and knife making. These have started over the last couple of years. Things have slowed down over the last year when I suffered a stroke, but I'm working at getting over that to. There has been many wonderful hobbies listed and shown here and thou I am not really envious I think that a person has to live for today and if something happens tomorrow you can look in the mirror and say "been there done that". I have no regrets, but it sure is nice to see some of the pictures and remember.
I've attached some of my carvings And my first knife,(Xmas exchange2008)

That is nice, J. but what are YOUR hobbies unrelated to knives?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Reading things other than textbooks, collecting books and CDs, supporting my wife in her musical endeavors (opera and such), and right now I'm teaching myself to braid tack. It's slow going.

Just got an email from someone who checked this thread and asked me
where do I find the time to make my books if I also devote so much
time to my other interests...

Well, the answer in my case is quiyte simple:
I love making my hobbies into books.
So far I have created 27 books
of which not all fit into the book shelf shown here....

By creating with these books, I appear less fanatic about my hobbies
compared to if I only just dealt with them and spoke about them to
everyone, everywhere and all the time....... :)

The books do the job for me and introduce far more people
to the things I love than I can do by myself!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
