Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

The boys will take one look at Joe's trophy room and toe the line.
Especially if there is an empty plaque on the wall with "Boyfriend #___" on it :D

Ebbtide I am glad you are close you can sharpen up one of your bowie's and when the time comes come lend a hand:thumbup:

Severed I don't know about Kevin's but around my house no tatooed freaks:D Ones enough.

STeven if your out there that means you to

Your little bitty scratches don't count, and besides, you've only been inviting me to go hunting with you for like a year.....unless you really meant for me to wear that hat with the deer antlers on it?:eek:

:D

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Joe, you're not kidding about coons. Have you ever seen one get a hound in the water.

I have a tat on my back as well. But I always forbid my daughters. Well Heather, the one in the middle that's just like me and I can't do anything with. She came back from Florida with a Jim Crowell's shooting star on her belly. It wasn't a good day at the Jones place. :grumpy:

Ray I shot that bull in the Selous in Tanzania a few years ago. ...

Mr. Paranee,

I got to meet and talk with Finn Aagaard quite a few years ago, and while we were visiting he showed me a few of his trophies. The one that impressed me the most was the cape buffalo head hanging over his fireplace, and I can tell you that it was in no way as big as the bull in this picture.

STeven you are always welcome and how did you know about the hat:D

Kevin I just talked to a guy that lost a real good dog to a coon in the water. They are no joke had to shoot one on the back porch a little while back was sick and would not go away when I chased him actually stood up and snarled at me. Seriously a scary critter

Does grad school count as a hobby? Probably not. So my hobbies are reading, collecting books and CDs, and supporting my wife in all of her many musical endeavors.

JAlexander Thanks and I am a big fan of Mr. Aagaard's have read his stuff and he was one of the great PH's of Africa. Like I said I have some other big bulls but that one is my best

Grad school a hobby? More like a burden:grumpy: Just got one out of grad school this past spring, now one starting law school in the fall. ;) :D :)

Ah, Kevin, I was wondering where you are.... Woke up not long ago and
was really glad to see you around....

And, thanks Jon. Notice a change in the atmosphere on this
SubForum with the two new Threads, "Hobbies" and "Mug Pictures"?

There was a "feeling" in the background that everyone needed something
to clear the air...... :)

All the best,

What a great thread. Some cool stuff between JPs exploits and Severeds "collecting". I can see STeven in the woods now with the antler hat on.LOL

KJ, I hope Crowllel makes your daughter a knife! Too funny in the world of Strider and Emerson tats.

When I lived in NJ I was into saltwater fishing and had boats for over 20 years. I can almost smell the salt air looking at JP's, Ebb's and Joe's pictures.

Joe, when the time comes, just have a long talk with the guys the first time they come to pick them up and let them know just how much those beautiful little girls mean to you.

Having the guns and knives on display won't hurt your cause either.

This just happened to me a few weeks ago. My daughter (14 years old) is into gothic (the style, music and such) and brought home her first boyfriend....gothic too. I happen to display my knives in my living room and when she came home with him I asked him if he was interested in seeing my collection. I gave him the tour and during this tour I could see and feel a lot of the bravoure that comes with his age went out the window very swiftly.:D Now he speaks with two words to me and calls me Sir (instead of dude or something like that:D) and he treats my girl with the utmost respect:cool::thumbup:

A burden for you, but was it for your daughter? *grin* Law school, on the other hand... No, thank you.

Seriously, though, I'm on the self-financing plan, so no-one is burdened but me.

That is nice, J. but what are YOUR hobbies unrelated to knives?

All the best,

Getting back on track, here is something completely not knife related....

This is one of my more serious hobbies that I bet no one on the BladeForums
ever even heard of it...

No guns no knives no cars no fishing and no photography ----
Just a deep 40 year interest in all the variations of GB's Queen Elizabeth II
definitive stamps from the day of her coronation in 1952 and onward....

I custom create the pages to display ALL of the many different printings, color
and perforation variations - some officially ducumented as well as many undocumented....

Here is a sample page from one of my albums with some unusual mis-perforations....

I do live in a strange world.... :)

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Speaking of grad school, I remember when I was there. Sometime around the 1980s. Back then, when you wanted pictures for your thesis, you went to the photography department in the Life Sciences Institute. This was run by an eccentric dude who shall remain nameless. You would put in your requests, and he would snap the pics in a very professional manner. He had all sorts of his nature pictures on the walls, and he would always have pics on his various hobbies, such as pistols.

He's retired now, but I hear that he is busy producing books on custom knives and knifemakers.

40 years! That's actually pretty cool, David.

Ed, with you (much like me) everything counts as a hobby.
Some more serious than others....

All the best,
