Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

My knife collecting has slowed somewhat lately due to some distractions.

Aside from knives, I love working on cars, trucks etc. Not sure if you'd call this one a hobby or a profession. I guess it kind of bridges the gap between the two. Other than that, I have a liking for air rifles.

As there are so many new members on BF, I thought that
by bringing this Thread up we could learn a little more about them....

Attach pictures too, please!!

All the best,

Fly fishing on a drift boat on the world class Big Hole river is an absolute favorite. 4 sided bamboo rod made for me by Glenn Brackett, Sweetgrass Rods, Twin Bridges, MT. This was Tuesday, we caught about 40 fish, Rainbows, Browns, and a Grayling.

Spending time with my daughter is one of favorite things to do,

and always, ice climbing

Well, making knives takes up most of my spare time these days. When I can I still dabble in a few other things.

Painting

Music

Haha, back in the day when I played bars.

I like shootin' too. Here are a couple. I ain't showing the whole stash.

When budget allows I like to race motorcycles.

Any pool players? I played a LOT when I was younger and still love playing when I get a chance. This is one of my prized posessions. It is a 1965 Palmer Model 11 that I have had since the late 60's.

Four of the shafts are original and I replaced the foam in the case when it disintegrated using the original purple cloth.

So last year I did dust off my cue and realized, much to my delight, that with my new transition lenses, I can play pool again.
Been shooting every weekend and made a whole new bunch of friends.
Bought a Schmelke Ebony Sneaky Pete and have Players HXT shaft on it.

Of course one thing leads to another. And when hobbies overlap, it's a beautiful thing.
New cue, new case(s)...
The first one I made...

When we were kids we all had nicknames like Fats & Fast Eddie... I got "Mr Machine" cuz, just like the toy, I'd just walk and walk around the table and pot balls.

I'm really enjoying making these cases.
Here's the second... A Tiki / Totem mash up

As Fast Eddie said at the end of TCOM "I'm back!"
:D

Love my hotrods....

Thanks for sharing guys, some of your "hobbies" and the"tools"
you "use" to enjoy them are truly amazing!

And the photography, WOW!!

Dudley, do you know of any expected "events" that we have not yet heard about?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hi!

Great to see a little more about you guys around here! Enjoying the images and stories that go with them quite a bit!

The only "hobby" I still cherish at the moment is everything photographic (can't seem to get enough even in my spare time... then again, it has to be the freedom that comes with the hobby-aspect... ;) ).

The old F3 lineup still holds a dear place in my heart and sees a lot of hobby-use:

Wait a minute...you're telling me you painted this by hand? If you're not a famous artist already you sure have the talent to be one.

I do artwork but not as well as i4Marc. I too collect gems like some others have mentioned, along with bullion/coin silver. I buy guns every so often but I'm usually pouring funds into custom blades instead. I've always found shoe collecting to be odd and I laughed when I heard Marky Mark's shoe collection is $100,000+. Guess what I just started collecting a month ago? Yep. Shoes.

Collections aside the far more valuable life treasures are the memories made with loved ones, and exploring the natural world whence we came whether you hike, climb, spelunk, kayak or something else. I hike.

Never play Jarts with the kids in the yard...never.

I just realized Flickr is blurring the crap out of my photos. Time for an Imgur account.

A more major interest than knives is a collection of Abstract Expressionist art, from the 40's through the 80's.

Flyfishing, fly tying, making split cane bamboo fly rods, airguns, making custom airgun parts, smoking brisket, ribs and pork shoulders :)

For what it's worth, Winston Churchill is buried 2 miles from where I live and I've never been to see his grave. Shame on me some will say!
Every day coach loads of tourists from all over the world visit!

My favorite Churchill quotes are the ones he never actually said. :D Such as:

Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”

Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”

Hi A.l.e.x.,

One rarely sees use of these classic film SLRs!
I have used all professional Nikons from the original NIKON F
for my 40 years of professional nature photography, but for everyday
photography I loved the compact Collector's Limited Edition NIKON 28Ti

Of course everything changed with the beginning of Digital photography....
But I still kept ALL my Nikon SLR's (8 of them) and my amazing little NIKON 28 Ti....
